Together we S.O.A.R.
Dear Parents of Faribault Middle School Students,
We are excited to share the positive impact that PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) is having on our school culture at FMS! PBIS is a proactive approach that teaches and reinforces positive behaviors, creating a safe and supportive environment for all students. Thanks to this initiative, we have seen a considerable decrease in student referrals to the office compared to last year. Our students are thriving, and our school culture continues to grow more positive and inclusive each day. Thank you for supporting us in creating a welcoming and respectful environment at Faribault Middle School!
Warm regards,
Faribault Middle School Administration
Conference and Registration
Faribault Middle School is excited to welcome families for conferences and course registration for the 2025-2026 school year!
8th Grade Transition to High School:
- Conferences and registration begin this Thursday, February 6th for 8th graders moving on to FHS. Families should have received a message last month from FHS with details. FHS will also be sponsoring an Open House for parents and students Thursday evening.
FMS Conferences & Registration:
- Thursday, February 27th | 3:30 - 7:00 PM
- Monday, March 3rd | 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM
These conferences will be a key time for current 6th and 7th graders to register for their core classes and exploratory courses for next year. We encourage all families to attend and take advantage of this opportunity to plan for academic success.
We look forward to seeing you there! If you have any questions, please contact the FMS office.
A message of perseverance, friendship, and the power of shared experiences.
In recent years, as people learn that I climb mountains—yes, many 14,000-footers—they often have questions. One I hear frequently (aside from "why?") is: Do you enjoy the journey, the climb, or is it all about the destination?
For a long time, my answer was easy: the destination. The climb was always a struggle, to say the least. And coming from someone who believes in trusting the struggle and embracing the process as a builder of character, that answer made sense.
But lately, I’ve realized the best answer wasn’t even in the question—it’s the company. I climb with three of my college teammates, who are positive and uplifting even in the toughest moments. They are the best of friends, and they make the entire experience richer.
Find your company to travel your journey—it makes the destination so much better.

Reminder to Families:
The staff parking lot is not a designated drop-off or pick-up zone for students. This area is heavily traveled by buses and students walking to and from school, making it a safety concern.
For the safety of all students, please use the designated drop-off and pick-up areas. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping our school community safe!
