LIS Tiger Talk
November 22, 2024
Principal's Message
Tiger Families,
What a busy and exciting week we've had! Our 5th graders had an incredible experience at Camp Kern. Mother Nature added a special surprise—our first snow of the year! The students made lasting memories while enjoying outdoor learning and team-building activities. A BIG LIS thank you to Mr. Waple and Mrs. Coldiron who plan this amazing opportunity for our students every year! Many thanks to our high school chaperones, staff members, and parents who contributed to making Camp Kern a success.
We are thrilled to share that our Pass It On Food Drive was a tremendous success! Thanks to your generosity, we are able to make a large donation to LIFE Food Pantry, supporting families in need within our community.
I hope you take time to relax and enjoy your week off with family and friends.
Warm regards,
Julie Carter

LIS Grandparents & Great Influences Day 2024
Loveland City School District is recognizing the importance of grandparents and other older community members. “Grandparents and Great Influences” events will be taking place at all of our buildings during December. Each student will have an opportunity to spend time at school with a grandparent or another person who has been a great influence in their life.
Loveland Intermediate Grandparents and Great Influences Day is Friday, December 13th, 2024.
5th Grade: 8:30am-9:30am
6th Grade: 10:30am-11:30am
Please complete the following Google Form for each student who plans to have a guest(s) attend. If you have more than one student at LIS, please complete a form for each one:
Grandparents & Great Influences Google Form.
We realize it may not be possible for “Grandparents and Great Influences” to be available for each student during our celebration. We’ll be working to make sure every student feels included and involved in this special day.
If you are interested in sponsoring/donating to this event, please contact Julie Carter.

Holiday Support for Families
The holidays will be here before we know it! Every year, LIS staff sponsors some of our families that need a little extra support during this time of year. Loveland community members are amazing and have expressed interest in helping out as well. If you would like to help make the holidays extra special for some of our students and families, you may donate a gift card(s) (Kohl's, Target, Walmart, Kroger, Meijer). You can send the gift card to school with your student or drop it off at the front desk. If you have any questions, please contact Robin Purdin at purdinro@lovelandschools.org. Thank you in advance for your generosity!

A Message from our Health Services Team
Cold and flu season is upon us and we have seen an increase in student illnesses in the clinics!
To keep everyone healthy and stop the spread of germs we are encouraging all students and staff members to practice good hand hygiene. Please encourage students to use hand sanitizer when walking into your classrooms (there are dispensers outside of every classroom) and to wash their hands as needed, especially before and after lunch!
We are sending out Guidelines for Keeping Students Home from School to our families. These guidelines apply to all staff as well. If you are not feeling well please stay home and consult your medical provider.
If you have any questions or concerns please reach out to your building administrators or nurse.

Loveland Science and Innovation Expo
This year Loveland will be hosting our first ever Science and Innovation Expo! The event will take place on Saturday, February 1st, 2025 from 9 am to 12 pm at Loveland High School. This day is an opportunity to celebrate and showcase the amazing learning that happens around Loveland! The Science and Innovation Expo is a one-day event that incorporates two pathways for students to pick from, a Science Expo and an Innovation Expo.
For more information about each pathway, click here to watch a video, or read the brief description below: Here is more information about each pathway:
- The Science Expo is a traditional science fair where students have the opportunity to conduct a scientific research project or engineering design project, and present their findings to their peers and community judges, with the opportunity to qualify for Regional Science Day at University of Cincinnati, called the Science and Engineering Expo. If students achieve well at UC, they have the opportunity to qualify for State Science Day at Ohio State University. This pathway is open to students in grades 5-12, and students can present individually or up to groups of three.
- The Innovation Expo is an open-ended opportunity for students to identify a problem and solve it with something they will create, or to simply create and share something creative, inventive, or innovative. Some ideas may be a DIY craft, coding/computer science project, an engineering creation, or anything else in which your child creates something to share! This pathway is open to all students grades PreK-12, and community judges will provide informal feedback about strengths of each project, as well as areas to grow. Students can participate individually or up to groups of three.
To learn more details about the event, how to submit a project, project ideas, and project requirements, visit Loveland's website at https://lovelandschools.org/expo
For any questions, please reach out to innovation@lovelandschools.org. We hope to see you on February 1st!
