Incoming Kindergarten Information

We are looking forward to having our new Wildcats join us here at Washington in a couple of weeks! In this email, you will find important information and dates about the beginning of school. Upcoming, we have a couple of events I wanted to make sure you were all aware of, and we hope you are available to attend! There is also one task we hope you can complete to help us get to know your child(ren) before they start school.

August 12, Saturday 10-12pm

Family Meet & Greet on the Washington Play Structure hosted by the Washington Elementary School Parent Teachers Association (PTA). Enter the playground from the gates of the school, the main entrance to the school (the door up the stairs) will be locked.

Kindergarten Questionnaire - Please complete by Wed. 8/16

Please complete this questionnaire prior to the intake day (8/17). It will give the teachers much insight.

August 17th, Thursday: Kindergarten Intake Day

Teachers will meet with your child in a classroom while the parents visit with the principal. Please sign up for a 30 minute session. This is not mandatory. Therefore, please do not worry if you are out of town during this date. The questionnaire linked above will give the teachers some necessary information.

August 20, Sunday 2-4pm

TK & Kindergarten Ice Cream Social in Washington Cat Cafe.

Enter the playground from the gates of the school, the main entrance to the school (the door up the stairs) will be locked.

August 24th, Thursday: First Day of School

School will be from 8:30-12:00pm

August 31st, Thursday 6-7pm

Back to School Night at Washington Elementary, Parents Only.

There will be a transition into TK/K, with shortened days for a few weeks. Please see all dates and times listed below. After September 29th, we will return to the regular schedule of 8:30-3:00, with Tuesdays always an early release of 2:00pm.

8:30-3pm Dismissal (Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays)

**Dismissal Schedule for Grades 1st-5th

August 24 - 12:00 Dismissal

August 25 to August 31st - 2:00 Dismissal (for assessments)

Sept 1st - 1:30 Dismissal

September 5 and forward - regular schedule 8:30-3:00 (Tuesdays 2:00 dismissal)

Physical and Oral Forms - Due August 24th

The state of California requires all incoming kindergarteners to supply a physical and oral assessment. Please see attached and emailed back to me when completed.

Medical Authorization Forms

If your child has an allergy, medicine, etc that needs to be kept at school, please find the appropriate form here. Please bring the medicine on the first day of school to be stored in the nurses office rather than in a child's backpack. It does get busy on the first day of school, please include the form and medicine in a large ziplock bag. I will follow up with you within days of school starting.

Kindergarten Supplies and Lunch

Washington Elementary supplies all the necessary materials. Please have your children bring a backpack, reusable water bottle and any necessary personal items. Breakfast and lunch is provided next year free of charge thank you to our state. No need to sign up.

Free and Reduced Applications

The state provides extra support for families that qualify which go beyond free lunch. Please fill out the attached form and send it back to me.

Champions Before & After Care

If you are interested in before or after school care, it is on Washington Campus. It is managed by Champions. If you have any questions, please contact them directly. Here is the website: Champions.
