CHALLENGE ISLAND
This week our PTA sponsored a hands-on-STEM event for students in grades K - 2. Students listened to Wonder and then they used materials to create their own rocket. The students learned about elasticity and more!
Last Call for Volunteers
On April 29th RPC and CLES are planning to host our annual Diversity Night. There will be an opportunity to learn more about the various cultures that comprise our school communities.
Community Night can only be made possible with your help. Over the years we have had food, dance, music, flags, posters, and crafts that are representative of the various cultures that make our schools so special.
If you would like to host a table, be in our fashion show and/or perform at this special event, please complete the form by Friday, April 4th. Thank you for your support!
NYSESLAT TESTING
Each year, the NYSESLAT (New York State English as a Second Language Achievement Test) is given to all identified English Language Learners throughout New York State.
The NYSESLAT is designed to measure the English language proficiency of students who have been identified as an English Language Learner (ELL). Students who have been identified as an ELL and take the NYSESLAT, will be determined to be at one of the 5 following English proficiency levels:
Beginning → Entering
Intermediate → Emerging or Transitioning
Advanced → Expanding
Proficient → Commanding
The NYSESLAT measures English proficiency in the four areas of Speaking, Listening, Reading and Writing, and is administered over the course of several days.

As a reminder students are not permitted to use smart watches, cell phones or other personal devices during the school day or on the bus. If students are wearing a smart watch, it must be in silent mode. They are not allowed to text, make a call or receive a call from their watch. If a student uses a personal device, they will be given a warning. The second time, it will be confiscated.
If you need to reach your child, you should call the main office. Thank you for your support.
