EDUCATOR OF THE WEEK
This week's Educator of the Week is Ms. Rhian Hill. Ms. Hill is a talented and dedicated English teacher at the MHS. She has been an integral part of MHS since joining the District in 2017.
Principal Cetner summed up the impact that Ms. Hill has had on her students by noting:
"Ms. Hill is dedicated to her craft and goes the extra mile to support students in the classroom and beyond. This year she helped facilitate the district's Beginner Teacher Institute for educators for our newly hired educators and, most recently, secured an MEF Grant of $5,995 for NoRedInk Premium for our grade 9 and 10 students. In addition, Ms. Hill makes learning engaging for students by providing them with real-world, hands-on experiences including an escape room field trip and presentation by a local (famous) author, Casey Sherman to support her Mystery, Suspense, and True Crime class."
She added that, "Beyond the classroom, Ms. Hill also serves as co-advisor to The Gold Ribbon Awareness Club which is dedicated to bringing awareness to childhood cancer. This year, the club raised over $8,400 to support this worthy cause by facilitating fundraising activities that helped to promote a sense of pride, compassion, and community for our school and district."
Congratulations to Ms. HIll for being our Educator of the Week. She has clearly made a huge impact on the students at the MHS and we are fortunate to have her on our team. #WeRMarshfield

TIERED FOCUSED MONIITORING REVIEW
During the week of May 6th, 2024 the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education’s (DESE’s) Office of Language Acquisition (OLA) will conduct a Tiered Focused Monitoring Review of Marshfield Public Schools. The Office of Language Acquisition reviews each district’s and charter school’s ELE program every six years to monitor compliance with federal and state English learner education laws and regulations. Areas of review will include English learners’ student assessments, identification of English learners; what programs English learners are placed in, parent and community involvement, curriculum and instruction, student support services, licensure requirements for faculty, staff and administration, program plans, and evaluation and recordkeeping.
In addition to the onsite visit, parent outreach is an important part of the review process. The district will send a survey to the parents of students whose records the review team examines with. The survey focuses on key areas of their child’s English learner education program. Survey results will be reviewed by OLA and they will contribute to the monitoring report.
Parents and other individuals may call David Valade, Office of Language Acquisition Review Chairperson, at (781) 338- 6711 to request a telephone interview. If an individual requires an accommodation, such as translation, to participate in an interview, DESE will make the necessary arrangements.
Within approximately 60 business days of the onsite visit, the review chairperson will provide the (district or charter school) with a report with information about areas in which the Marshfield Public Schools meets or exceeds regulatory requirements and areas in which the Marshfield Public Schools requires assistance to correct or improve practices. The report will be available to the public at https://www.doe.mass.edu/ele/cpr/.
