Weekly Wrap Up
Maple Place Middle School -2/2/24 - Week 21
Principal's Message :
Good Evening, Maple Place and Happy FriYAY!
Just a reminder: school is closed on Monday, February 5th for staff professional development. There are many exciting things happening in district next week including the Wolf Hill Attic Expansion Ribbon Cutting next Wednesday, February 7th, the Maple Place Spelling Bee on February 8th, and our fifth grade author visit on Friday, February 9th. February is also Black History Month. Throughout the month, students will be learning about important figures in history who have made significant contributions to making our world what it is today!
Winter sports are coming to an end with our last two weeks of regular season play coming up. Sign ups for spring sports have been taking place this week, and students should be checking out the list to see if they need a sports physical. More information about spring sports meetings will be forthcoming.
It's that time again...time for the SOUPERBOWL! The Student Council is holding it's annual soup collection in honor of the upcoming Super Bowl. Who are you rooting for - the Chiefs or the 49ers? Bring in a can of soup and place it in the box of the team who you hope wins the big game. Soup is being collected in the boxes outside the Media Center through next Friday, February 9th.
In celebration of Valentines Day, the 8th grade class of 2024 is selling Candy Grams to be delivered during the week of February 12th through the 15th. Flyers were sent home with the students, and one is posted below.
Lastly, the Parent Portal opened at 4:00pm today for report card viewing for the second marking period. And, if you haven't done so already, please check out Dr. Godlesky's January Update.
Wishing you a wonderful weekend,
Melissa Keiser
The Great Kindness Challenge:
Last week Maple Place Middle School once again participated in The Great Kindness Challenge this past month! Mrs. Bonett worked hard to ensure that our middle schoolers viewed the week from a lens of kindness. We shared kindness quotes on the announcements and there were kindness reminders on the lockers in the hallways. Additionally, there were interactive cafeteria lessons with all grades during lunch. During these lessons, the students were asked to complete one of the sentence starters about showing kindness to themselves, to others, and to their teachers. The responses were very thoughtful. These responses are hung around the "Be the 'I' in Kind" display in the main hallway. Check out the pictures below!
