Message from the Principal
What a busy, but great week at Ike! We had Red Ribbon this week with a lot of fun!
Congratulations to our 1st Quarter Honor Roll recipients! We are proud of the hard work of our students and excited about their accomplishments! Please see the lists of our recipients below. Each quarter our Honor Roll recipients receive a magnet for the quarter. Hopefully it made it home this weekend!
We are looking forward to this up-coming week as it will give us an opportunity to meet with many parents during Parent/Teacher conferences! This is an excellent time to gain feedback on your child’s progress and share information. If you have not yet scheduled a conference, please contact the main office at 419.836.8498.
All conferences will be held in the cafeteria. This will allow us to have Specials teachers, our guidance counselor, myself, and other staff members join conferences. It will be imperative that we keep to our 15 minute scheduled conference times. If, at the end of the scheduled conference time, you need more communication, please set up an additional time with the teacher or teachers with whom you need to speak.
We would like you to bring your child with you to conferences. He/she will start at a table in the middle of the cafeteria where there will be something for him/her to do. This will allow parents and teachers time to identify suggestions for continued success or for new success. Students will then be brought into the conversation to implement the plan that was devised.
Conferences are a great time to clarify expectations, determine means to meet or exceed expectations, and to celebrate what is going well. Please remember that we are open to speaking with you about the success of your child at times outside of Parent/Teacher conferences. Communication is key to the success of our children.
Please also remember that there is no school for students on Monday, November 4th or Tuesday, November 5th.
Thank you to Mrs. Felaris who has been working on building literacy initiative! Below are some ideas that we are encouraging you to implement with your child in celebration of Family Literacy Month.
Have a great week!
Sincerely,
Tim Holcombe
Red Ribbon Week
We had a great week of celebrating this year's theme for Red Ribbon Week, "Life is a movie. Film Drug Free!"
Thank you to Youth 2 Youth members, led by Mrs. Neuman and Mrs. Materni, for all of their work to organize the week that included a theme each day. Thank you, all!
Attendance Matters!
We are incredibly proud of all our students who have shown dedication by attending school regularly because they know that “Showing up Matters”! On Friday, we held our third attendance raffle. Six names from 5th grade and six from 6th grade were drawn. Selected students who have maintained green status on their attendance trackers were eligible for a prize.

Other News
- We are fortunate to benefit each year from the generosity of the Old Newsboys. Each year they donate vouchers for both coats and shoes. If your student, or families you know of, is in need, please contact Tim Holcombe at tholcombe@oregoncs.org.
- Please remember that morning drop-off should not be prior to 7:20 and all students must be picked up by 2:40. Thank you for adhering to these times as our supervision is limited to these times.
- We are considering ways to get more time for students to work on fluency with adults. One thought we are working on is the possibility of having adults come one or two days per week from 8--9. We would like to have that covered 5 days per week. If you or someone you know (grandparents, etc.) would be interested, please email Mrs. Nadolny at tnadolny@oregoncs.org and we share more details. Thank you!
