Weekly Message

Good Evening JICHS Band Family,

I hope you are enjoying a nice weekend and spending some quality time with your family.

It truly does not feel like we have been in school for five weeks. But as they say...time flies when you are having fun! Every day in rehearsals we get more and more accomplished. I am finding it easier and easier to challenge the students with new music and new musical concepts. They really are soaking up the knowledge!!!We have been working hard in our rehearsals and are making great progress. I am very excited for our Fall concert coming up on October 15.

As we work towards our Fall concert, we have recently started our after-school rehearsals.

Last week was the first after-school Symphonic Winds rehearsal of the year. We had an amazing rehearsal! It is always great to combine percussion and winds to hear how the music is supposed to sound.

Tuesday, September 24th is our first Concert Band after-school rehearsal.

Please remember all students are expected to attend their after-school rehearsals. Because band is a co-curricular class, students will receive a grade for anything we do outside of school hours, rehearsals and concerts. Please make sure to attend all after-school rehearsals!

Deadline to sign up is Sept 30th

Region Band Sign-ups are posted. Please encourage your student to sign up for region band auditions. If you have any questions as to what is involved in the process, please reach out and ask. The cost to audition is $12. You can send in a check (made out to JICHS Band Backers, or cash). Deadline to sign up is October 18th.
