Counseling and Student Support Mission

To assist students in acquiring skills and knowledge to become critical thinkers and lifelong learners who embrace diversity through counseling and guidance.


Goal

Our goal as the counseling and student support team is to come alongside students and their families to help all students learn how to balance life, school, emotions, and relationships.

Mindfulness

Being mindful is consciously bringing awareness to one's experience—focusing one's attention on thoughts, feelings, and environment in the present moment. Mindfulness can be applied to sensory experience, thoughts, and emotions by using sustained attention and noticing one's experience without passing any judgment.

RSMS Bully Box

The Bully Box is an anonymous way for you to report bullying. Write the name of the person being bullied, the bully, and your message. Drop it in the wooden box. It is located in the library at the front counter.

iHelp app is a comprehensive reporting solution designed for the needs, behaviors, and attitudes of students; it is easy to use and allows students to remain anonymous. This technology fosters a relationship between schools, law enforcement, counselors, parents, and students.

We will start activities in the Spring during classes and lunch time.

One-On-One Meetings Versus Guidance Lessons

Meetings with your Grade Level Counselor

One-on-on Meetings: You and a counselor will meet to get to know you, find out if you may need any assistance with personal, social, emotional, academic portions of your life. This is the time to let your counselor know how they can be of assistance to you.


Guidance Lessons: Your counselor will speak with you and your peers in your classrooms about several topics that are designed to get to know you as a learner, your interests, your future plans and they will assist you in making informed decisions as you matriculate through your academic years.


* All virtual students will have an opportunity to meet with their counselor and will be required to sign up via signup genius via the links sent through Schoology by their counselors.
