Fun Things Happening in the Harding Community
Knight Crew Field Trip
Harding's Knight Crew visited Hazel Park Preparatory Academy on October 30th to present what Harding has to offer. They also played a few community building activities to connect with the 8th graders. Knight Crew is on a mission to build a better connection with their feeder schools.
What's happening in the classroom?
Ms. Zielske and Ms. Vue's students spent the quarter learning about how the sun and stars work. Students are trying to figure out through collaboration and research: Does an exoplanet have a star like ours? What does an exoplanet need to sustain life?
Street Law Field Trip
Three Harding Senior High School students from Emily Lockhart's Street Law class were invited to go to the grand opening of St. Paul's Justice and Democracy Center at the Warren E. Burger Federal Building and U.S. Courthouse on October 21. This was a special event with honored guest, Supreme Court Associate Justice Sonia Sotomayor. Pictured to the right of her are Harding students Lanah Nguyen, Aidan Moua and Cadence Lee. The students got to participate in an exclusive interactive Q&A session with her and learn about her background and judicial philosophy.
Education Pathway Field Trip
Harding Education Pathway students, along with students from Como Park Sr, Humboldt, and Central, attending the Future Teachers Day event at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls on Friday, November 1st. They got to participate in lessons put on by current pre-service teachers, hear all about the life of an education major in college, and see the sights of the campus.
College Fair Events
In October, Harding’s College and Career Center participated in two college fairs. We took 40 seniors to the National College Fair at the Minneapolis Convention Center and then hosted the regional MnACC College Fair at Harding on Halloween! These were great opportunities for juniors and seniors to meet college representatives, ask questions, and think about planning for life after high school.
If you or your student ever has questions about college, jobs, financial aid, or anything related to preparing for after graduation, please reach out to our College and Career Center Staff! If your student is planning to go to college, know that this year the FAFSA will open on December 1st and both students and parents will need to complete this.

What has AVID been up to lately?
AVID 9 students have started tutorials. Each week, they bring questions from their classes and help each other find the answers. It’s a great way to learn and support one another.
AVID 10 has recently had guest speakers from Concordia Saint Paul College and St. Cloud Technical College. They learned about the differences between public and private colleges and four-year and two-year schools. Our students were interested and asked lots of questions.
Lastly, our AVID 12 students are busy with their college applications! They’re writing personal statements, collecting recommendation letters, and filling out many forms. We’re proud of their hard work and the acceptances are already rolling in!
