The Weekly Update #4
December 4th, 2023

Astronomy News
The Classes this week performed a lab/demo that examined the effect that
distance had on the orbiting speed of planets in relation to gravity. They then
related this to the very similar effect that Black Holes have on galaxies. They
performed a swinging object on a string that was done at various lengths. This
showed them that the swinging motion of the object was indeed affected by the
length of the string (or the distance from the source of gravity). Also here is a
photo taken of the Waxing Gibbous Moon on Tuesday Nov. 12. I always get
excited when the students take photos of Astronomy related objects.
Keep Looking Up!

Beta club supports sister care
A huge thank you to Allie Landry for helping organize a donation drive between DFHS and the Spring Hill High School Beta Club! The students were so excited to support Sistercare, a wonderful local organization. And a special shoutout to Tonya Harrington, for picking up all the donations at Dutch Fork. The items were delivered to both shelters and given to their housing program. Thanks to everyone involved in making this happen!
digital art class focuses on feedback
Today in Digital Art we focused on FEEDBACK. Students were about to wrap up their Musically Inspired Postage Stamps and were asked to talk to 6 classmates- giving three pieces of feedback and getting three critiques in return from others. Although ART in itself is absolutely the focus in a visual art class, talking together and learning to communicate is vital in the art world. It is so beautiful walking around and hearing them converse with each other using art terminology and giving feedback that promotes positive progress.
