Overbrook High School
Parent Newsletter - August Updates
The Pine Hill School District is dedicated to valuing diversity and inclusivity while fostering relationships that promote the development of our students academically, socially, and emotionally. We are intentionally equipping students with the skills needed to become contributing members of society.
Principal's Message
We at Overbrook are excited to welcome you back for the 2024 - 2025 School Year. We can hardly believe we are just 4 short weeks away from opening the doors to our students again. There are many exciting updates and events we are planning for, so I wanted to take the time to write this newsletter to help in your planning for the start of the school year. We are committed to providing an environment in which your students can grow in all facets of their lives and we are eager to collaborate again this school year to ensure a successful year for your children. For the families of our incoming 9th graders, I hope to see you all at Freshman Orientation on August 27. For all other families, I am excited to welcome you to our back to school night on September 12. All details on those events and more are included within this newsletter. I look forward to a positive year with each of you.

Back to School Night

Additional Future Events
For planning purposes, here are a list of important events for parents and guardians! Please save the dates!
Thursday, September 12 - Back to School Night
Wednesday, November 20 - HS Conference Night (Virtual)
Thursday, January 30 - 8th Grade Parent Night
Thursday, February 20 - HS Conference Night (Virtual)
Tuesday, June 17 - HS Graduation (Tentative) *
*For HS Graduation, students participating in the ceremony must be present in school the three school days prior to graduation. Tentatively that will be June 13, June 16 and June 17. Should the date of graduation change due to inclement weather days, the practice days will change as well.
School Supplies
Each new student to OHS will be assigned a chromebook from the district and all returning students should plan to bring their chromebooks and chargers to school starting Day 1. Outside of that, there are no supply lists at the high school level as there is in the elementary schools, as the complexity of our schedule is far greater than that of the elementary school. Students are encouraged to bring their chromebooks each day. I always recommend a binder for paperwork, some paper/notebook and a writing utensil. Typically in the High School, teachers will inform students of specific supplies they may need on the first day of school.
Student Schedules
Student Schedules and access to Genesis will be released during the last week of August, after Freshman Orientation on August 27. Before that time, our counselors will be calling students who may wind up with conflicts in their schedules. Please do not contact the counseling office with any schedule requests at this time.
Bus Passes
All bus passes will be sent out by the Pine Hill transportation office sometime during the last week of August to students in Pine Hill and Clementon. Please note that your address is our system is the address the pass will be created for and will be mailed to. If you had a change of address, or are anticipating a change in address, please make those changes with the district ASAP. Any changes after bus passes go out will take time to process and change the route.
Please note that Berlin Township handles their own transportation.
Free and Reduced Lunch
Later in the month of August, the Free and Reduced Lunch Application will be available on the district website and in the parent portal of Genesis along with the other forms required to be filled out at the beginning of the year. I have also included the link to the Cafeteria Resources page below.
Parking Registration
We will be holding registration for student parking on Tuesday, August 27th and Wednesday, August 28th from 10am-12pm in the main office. Please complete the google form attached prior to coming into the main office on either of these dates. You will get to select your parking spot, however it is first come first served. All hang tags must be placed on your rear view mirror and will be collected at the end of the school year. If you do not return your tag, there will be a $5 fee.
The PBIS Senior Paint a Parking Spot event does not have a set date yet. We are awaiting for the parking lot to be painted and the old spots to be painted over. We will send a Remind message out when we have a date for that event.

We are excited to see all of these projects to completion this summer. The new science labs will be ready later in the fall.
