Major's Minute

It was so great being back last Sunday after being two weeks away. Again, we appreciate this congregation. This past week included lots of firsts ...

First meeting at the Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce

First birthday party at our neighbor's house

First lunch with Officers as Café Wisteria

First time trying to nail through a puzzle and the nail not going through (Yes, I decorate completed puzzles as posters.)

First time signing up 20 new pantry clients in a day. (This past Thursday 130 people were served in a two hour window.)

First time meeting with the Corps Council this calendar year.

.... and as you know that's not even close to all of the firsts that happen in a week ... if we pay attention ....

This reminds me that God is always doing something new.

Isaiah 43:19 says,

For I am about to do something new.
See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?
I will make a pathway through the wilderness.
I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.

As we get regulated back into our normal schedules from the summer, let's not forget that God is doing something new. Allow Him to do something new in our lives. Let's live differently and make better choices to have more of Him. Lord, help us each day, to seek you and find you and be ready for change that comes in knowing you.

We encourage you this year to get more connected to our small groups and activities on Sundays, during the week, and monthly, whether it's volunteering or coming to participate. There's so much growth, friendship, and ownership of this church that comes just by being more involved. God bless you!

**Note - We are updating our volunteer files. We'll be asking current and new volunteers to complete the volunteer packet. We will also be giving you instructions on how to get additional fingerprinting (now required by law) for those who work with youth. You will not need to pay for anything. We will guide you on how to get this done.**

AUGUST

28 Family Night 6:30 (Dinner), 7:15 (Study)

29 Young Adult Volleyball 7 PM (Seniors in Highschool also)

SEPTEMBER

2 Office Closed for Labor Day

6 First Friday Teen Group 6 PM

14 Second Saturday: Sons (Men 's Breakfast @ 7 am) and Second Saturday Sisters (Women @ 10 am)

15 Rally Day Potluck - Sunday gearing up to celebrate everyone back from summer. Bring a side to share if able. We are inviting summer camp families to join us this day to pick up Earthquakes tickets along with the church family.

21 Earthquakes Match, Join us for the fun. Free tickets for the game and food at the game. Details coming soon for transportation there and back.

Event Information

Trick or Treating at CANDY CORN WAY

We're inviting the community (including yourself) to come to our First Annual Trick or Treating at CANDY CORN WAY - Getting the community onto our property to know that we are here and bless them. For our first event we are asking for hosts to decorate, purchase candy for, and/or pass out candy at the doors of our property from 5 - 7 PM. We'll have a handful of lawn activities and music - nothing too overwhelming our first year. We pray to meet families and grow this event each year to come.

Rally Sunday and Potluck

This is our time to celebrate being back from summer traveling and getting back to the rhythm of meeting together at church. It's also a great time to invite friends and family to your church and be a part of the worshipping body. Plan to bring a side dish to share. But remember, the most important thing to bring is YOU!
