October has been an action packed month at CCE, and as we turn our calendars to November, we hope you will continue to join us for all the programs and events we have in-store. We are very excited to announce our very first Comet Online Auction, where you’ll have the opportunity to bid on some amazing items to benefit the CCE PTA! We’re also combining two of our most beloved traditions into one amazing night…save the date for the Fun Run & Holiday Fair on December 6.

The next few weeks will focus largely on service initiatives, including Operation Turkey, Brown Santa, and Clothes Closet. Please join us in helping to pay it forward to benefit others across the greater Austin community.

Finally, a huge and sincere thank you to the members of our PTA team who spend so many hours behind the scenes making all of these amazing events, initiatives and programs possible and successful. This is one Comet Strong community!

Preview Night - Students will preview the book fair next Friday, November 8 and make a wish list of their selections.

Book Fair - The book fair will be open Monday-Friday November 11-15 with a late night shopping opportunity on Monday, November 11. The book fair will close Monday during the PTA meeting and 5th grade performance from 5:30-6:30PM then reopen until 7:30PM.

The Canyon Creek Elementary PTA would like your help to feed Austin families in need this Thanksgiving as we kick-off Operation Turkey!

Last year, Canyon Creek families generously donated $1,530 to help feed 612 meals to the Austin community. We feel so fortunate to have such a wonderful and supportive community and our goal is to help raise even more funds this year to surpass our 2023 donations!

The PTA will keep track of our total contributions by classroom on the “Turk-o-meter” for the kids to see! This food drive starts now and ends on Friday, November 15.

Your family can help by donating funds to purchase meals and any amount helps us reach our goal. There are two ways to donate:

• Write a check: please make check payable to: Operation Turkey and send with the slip received in your child’s Tuesday folder. Send to your child’s classroom in an envelope marked for PTA Operation Turkey by Friday, November 15.

• Donate online: donate directly through the Operation Turkey website http://www.operationturkey.com/donate/. Please make a note that you are donating from CCE PTA Operation Turkey.

The CCE Thanksgiving Feast is on Wednesday, November 13, and the school is asking for PTA volunteers to help out so that the day will run smoothly. Please sign up for a 45 minute time slot that is NOT during your student’s regular lunchtime so that you can enjoy the Thanksgiving Feast with your child. Sign up to volunteer here!

Every year, PTA loves to send each CCE faculty and staff member home with a fresh pie to enjoy over Thanksgiving break! Please click the image or sign up here to bring a pie or two for our staff to enjoy. It is a sweet way to let them know how much we appreciate the work they do every single day at our school.

Just in time for the Holidays!

This year, our Fun Run and Holiday Fair will be a combined event. Please save the date for December 6, and begin planning if you would like to host a booth at the fair. This is a beloved event, and we know different groups (Scouts, local bakers, artists, and crafty groups of friends) bring so many interesting goods to sell. We can’t wait to see what you have to offer!

We loved seeing the Canyon Creek community out on October 25.This event is always such a special night to our students and families! A BIG thank you to each of our 18 Trunk Hosts who put so much time and creative energy into making this event a special night. Events like these are one of the things that make our community unique and amazing.

After you’ve joined PTA, head over to Facebook and Join the Canyon Creek Elementary Facebook Group for the most up-to-date information on PTA activities and to share information and tips with our CCE community! This group is a private group for our community only, and only current PTA members will be approved into the group, so make sure that you’ve joined PTA first before requesting approval into the group.

Is your child at Grisham Middle School or heading there soon? Stay up to date with what's happening on campus by joining the Grisham PTA Facebook page. You'll find info about school programs, fun activities, spirit nights, volunteer opportunities, teacher appreciation and more. You don’t have to be a GMS PTA member to join, but if you’d like to join Grisham PTA, you can do that here.

To volunteer at Canyon Creek Elementary in any capacity, you must first fill out a volunteer application with the school district. This includes volunteering with PTA, chaperoning field trips, helping in the classroom or working with students. A new application must be submitted each year for the current school year and can take up to a week to be fully approved.

A strong male presence on the CCE campus is crucial for fostering a balanced and enriching environment for all students. Male role models provide a diverse perspective, supporting students’ social and academic growth by demonstrating positive behaviors, active engagement, and a commitment to education. If you're a father or father figure eager to make a difference, getting involved is simple. Just follow these three easy steps:

1) Review the orientation presentation to understand your role

2) Sign up as an RRISD volunteer to ensure a safe and secure environment

3) Choose a convenient day to be part of the campus community.

The RRISD Clothes Closet is in desperate need of boy’s pants/sweat pants in all sizes ranging from 4T - XLG, and juniors/men’s coats.
