eLearning Review
Earlier this year, you received an email from Naperville 203 regarding the approval of the district’s e-Learning plan. E-Learning will provide our students with a continuation of learning on days when we are unable to open its school buildings. Students will receive at least five hours of asynchronous instruction or school work through their Canvas accounts. While we do not anticipate needing an eLearning day in the near future, we would like to clarify what eLearning entails and how feedback from students, families, and the community has improved collaboration between students and our staff.
Key Updates for eLearning:
Synchronous Check-In: Starting at 9:15 AM, all students will log onto Zoom for a morning check-in with their teachers. All Lincoln Junior High Students students will log into their Supervised Study teacher’s zoom room and check in with staff for approximately 20-30 minutes. This meeting will include reviewing the day’s work, guides on where to access materials, and a review of office hours for each staff member so students can check in as needed throughout the day.
Accessing Zoom Links: Teachers will provide Zoom room links on their Canvas pages to ensure all students can easily log in and understand their daily expectations. We have also practiced this at school in preparation for the new schedule and system.
Office Hours: All Lincoln staff will offer office hours throughout the day for students to ask questions, seek clarification, or receive guided instruction. This balance of synchronous and asynchronous learning allows for direct communication with staff and adds flexibility for completing assignments.
In the event of an eLearning day, both the school and district will communicate updates through multiple platforms. In addition, a review of procedures will be sent to both students and staff with details on logging in, attendance, and grading. Thank you for your continued support and input. Please feel free to reach out to the administration with any questions.
MAP Testing at Lincoln Junior High
We will be administering the MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) tests at Lincoln Junior High on January 14th and 16th. These assessments are conducted three times a year—fall, winter, and spring—to measure students' academic achievement and track their growth over time.
To help students perform at their best, please ensure they:
Get a good night’s sleep the night before testing.
Eat a nutritious breakfast on the morning of the test.
Come prepared to do their best by staying focused and giving full effort throughout the testing sessions.
For more details about MAP testing, including how to interpret score reports, please click here.
Thank you for supporting your student’s success!

ACCESS Testing for English Language Learners
ACCESS testing for English Language Learners will be conducted throughout February. This important assessment measures students’ progress in English language proficiency across four key areas: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
To help students do their best, please ensure they:
Get a good night’s sleep before testing days.
Eat a healthy breakfast on the mornings of their tests.
Come prepared and ready to try their best during each testing session.
For more detailed information, please refer to the attached letter. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Kevin Harper.
Snowshoeing & Cross-Country Skiing 2025
Starting January 7th, all PE classes will have an opportunity to participate in cross-country skiing and snowshoeing during the winter months, from January through March 2025. This is a fantastic way for students to stay active, learn new skills, and embrace the joys of winter sports!
Here are some important details to keep in mind:
Outdoor: PE classes will head outdoors for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing, weather permitting. We will monitor temperatures and windchill to ensure student safety and comfort.
Equipment Provided: All skis, poles, and snowshoes will be provided for students to use during class.
Dress for Winter: Students must come prepared with boots, gloves, a hat, and a warm coat. Students will not change into their PE uniforms on these days but should dress appropriately for the weather.
Class Meeting Spot: On skiing and snowshoeing days, students will meet in the Tile Gym with their winter gear, ready to transition outside.
Snow-Free Days: If there is no snow, classes will have indoor PE. Teachers will communicate any changes directly to their students.
We are thrilled to bring this exciting winter unit to our students!
Sincerely,
The LJHS PE Team

If you notice another individual at the door, please avoid holding it open for them and ensure they have rung the doorbell and been granted access by our office staff. Thank you for helping us maintain a secure environment for all students and staff.

Transportation Reminders To/From School:

- Electric bikes/scooters - please note in accordance with Naperville city ordinances that many E-bikes are allowed only in specific locations when it comes to roadways and sidewalks. Thank you to School Resource Officer Kevin Merrihew who shared this presentation with our community for more information. Any motorized vehicle that is gas powered is prohibited on school property and may be subject to conversation involving Officer Merrihew.
Family Reminders: Outside Food and Beverages
As we continue to prioritize the safety and well-being of our students, I want to remind all families of a few important policies regarding outside food and beverages. At Lincoln Junior High, delivering catered food to students for celebrations or sharing food during lunch is prohibited. This practice helps ensure the safety of all students by minimizing the risk of exposure to allergens that could compromise their health.
Additionally, we encourage all students to bring water bottles for use throughout the day. Please avoid sending sports drinks, sodas, or other beverages to school, as this helps us maintain our allergy-sensitive environment in classrooms. Thank you for your continued support in keeping Lincoln a safe and healthy place for all!
Attendance Reminders
Classes begin daily at 8:00 am. It is important that students arrive at school on time and are ready to learn. For detailed information, please click this link.
Absences
If a student is to be absent or late to school, the parent or guardian must call the school's absence line before 7:45 a.m. at (630) 420-3881. This line is open 24 hours a day and recorded messages can be left anytime before 7:45 a.m.
Early Dismissals
If you need to pick up your student early for an appointment, there are a couple of options we ask that you follow. The day of the appointment, send a note with your student indicating what time you need to pick him/her up and the reason for leaving. Your child must bring the note to the main office before 8:00 a.m. You may also call the Lincoln Junior High Attendance Line to notify the office of your child’s departure time. A pass will be provided and all teachers are notified of any early dismissals. A parent/guardian must come into the building to sign the student out.
