RHS Debate Team Shines at Orange County Spring Debate Tournament
The Rowland High School Debate Team delivered an outstanding performance at the 2024–2025 Spring Debate Tournament held Saturday, April 26, 2025, hosted by the Orange County Debate League. The team of Celina Poon, Sabrina Su, and Jesse Zhou earned 8th place overall, while Abbi Liman and Leah Tsoi achieved an impressive 2nd place team finish. In individual rankings, Abbi was recognized as the 8th-place speaker, and Leah secured 11th-place speaker honors. As a completely student-run organization, the RHS Debate Club continues to excel in research, coaching, and strategic thinking, showcasing passion, eloquence, and collaboration at every turn. Congratulations to our talented debaters on their remarkable success!
Congratulations to Our CALCP Scholarship Recipients!
We are proud to recognize the outstanding achievements of four Rowland High School students who have been selected as recipients of the 2025 CALCP (California Association of Leaders for Career Preparation) Career Technical Education Scholarship: Carolyn Chung, Cristopher Hernandez, Leiloni Lazo, and Tina Peng.
These students were honored for their dedication to their CTE Industry Pathways and for demonstrating exceptional preparation toward their career goals. The CALCP selection committee praised their hard work, perseverance, and passion—all of which earned them this well-deserved recognition.
Please join us in congratulating them on this incredible accomplishment! We are so proud of their success and excited to see what the future holds.
Way to go, Raiders! Keep up the great work!
Meet the Coaches Night Event
Our “Meet the Coaches” night was also a huge success! We had over 170 incoming freshman show up to meet and greet our coaches and current athletes.
Also, a group of our athletes went to Alvarado this week to represent the athletics program and advise the 8th graders about the programs we have.
Physics Carnival
Our RHS physics students recently hosted a Physics Carnival for 4th and 5th graders from Shelyn Elementary. Using what they learned in the electricity unit, they built fun, circuit-powered games like mini golf, hockey, bird toss, a Star Wars shooter, and a ball rolling challenge. In addition, my NGSS physical science classes made Chemistry posters that talked about different elements on the Periodic Table. The event was a big hit with the elementary school students, who had a blast playing and learning. Huge shout out to RHS students for their creativity and hard work in making this year’s carnival a great success!
