Adoption of Consent Agenda Items
The Governing Board voted to accept the consent agenda items. Items listed under the consent agenda motion are considered to be a regular course of procedure and are acted on by the Board of Trustees in one motion.
There is no discussion of these items prior to the Board vote unless a member of the Board, staff, or the public requests specific items be discussed and/or removed from the agenda. It is understood that the administration recommends approval on all consent items. Each item on the consent agenda approved by the Board of Trustees shall be deemed to have been considered in full and adopted as recommended.

The Governing Board approved the Personnel Report as part of the Consent Agenda.

Measure R: Citizens Oversight Committee Update
The Board accepted the report from the Measure R Citizens' Oversight Committee and will make it available to the public upon request. As required by the statutes and bylaws of the Measure R Bond Election, the Citizens’ Oversight Committee is to provide an annual written report to the Board of Trustees of the Cambrian School District during a public session. The annual report should include:
(a) A statement indicating whether the District is in compliance with the requirements of Article XIIIA, Section l(b)(3) of the California Constitution; and
(b) A summary of the Committee's proceedings and activities for the preceding year.
Kirsten Reilly, Chair of the Citizens' Oversight Committee will present the letter to the Board.
It should be noted that based on the Committee's review and observations, the Citizens’ Oversight Committee finds that the District is in compliance with the requirements of Article XIIIA, Section 1(b)
(3) of the California Constitution and that funds are being used for the purposes specified in the ballot language.

Measure R: Resolution 23-24-09
The Governing Board approved Resolution 23-24-09 and allowed staff to move forward with the request to the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors to establish a tax rate for the general obligation bonds expected to be sold. On November 3, 2020, Measure R was approved by 61% of voters within the district. Pursuant to California Education Code Section 15252, Cambrian School District is required to request the County of Santa Clara Board of Supervisors to adopt a tax rate Series 2024 Bonds for the fiscal year of 2024-25 in September 2024.

Measure I: 2024 General Obligation Refunding Bonds Refinancing Result
The Cambrian School District issued General Obligation Bonds under Measure I in 2014 at the going interest rates at that time. On March 21, 2024, the Governing Board of Trustees approved to authorize the sale and issuance of refunding bonds with lower interest rates which would save money for community property owners. Government Financial Strategies will present the results of the Measure I: General Obligation Bonds sale that occurred on April 3, 2024.

2024-25 LCAP Presentations: Bagby, Farnham, Price
The Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) is a three-year plan that describes the goals, actions, services, and expenditures to support positive student outcomes that address state and local priorities. The LCAP provides an opportunity for our schools and the district to share their stories of how, what, and why programs and services are selected to meet their local needs.
Mr. Michael Kretsch, Bagby Principal, Mrs. Amy O'Hehir, Farnham Principal, and Ms. Margaret Lavin, Price Principal, will provide a summary and outline their 2024-25 Local Control Accountability Plan School Plan. These updates will include an overview of the goals, actions and services for improving student outcomes according to the eight priorities set by the state in alignment with the District's Local Control Accountability Plans.

Job Description Update: Occupational Therapist (Classified Position)
The Governing Board approved the updated Occupational Therapist job description.
Occupational therapists help students with disabilities improve situations and allow them to participate more fully in school. To better meet the needs of the District, Cambrian wishes to update the job description for better recruitment and retention of staff. Personnel: Declaration of Need for Fully Qualified Educators
The Governing Board approved the Declaration of Need for Fully Qualified Educators to be filed with the Commission on Teacher Credentialing.The Commission on Teacher Credentialing Policy and Title 5 regulations require approval of the Declaration of Need for Fully Qualified Educators in the event there is a need to issue an emergency teaching permit.

Governing Board Office Hours Update: April 23rd, 2024
The Board of Trustees provided an update on the recent open-door meeting with the community held at Sartorette Elementary School.
Next Board Meeting
The next meeting of the Cambrian School Board will be held Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 7 p.m. Meetings are held in person at the Professional Development Center located at 4115 Jacksol Drive, San Jose, CA 95124 in Building 7, and can be viewed online as well. Agenda and login information will be available the week of the May 16th meeting. The meeting is open to the public.
