Dear Bridlemile Families,
Bridlemile PTA hosted a forum last night engaging families, educators, housing advocates, small business owners, and community partners in a call to action regarding securing funding for Oregon public schools. School Board members Julia Brim-Edwards and Christy Splitt were among the many in attendance.
Last night’s ask was a pledge to do the following:
Talk to lawmakers to fund education and invest in early childhood.
Advocate for change in Oregon lawmaking and budgets as it relates to education and early childhood funding.
Educate your social sphere why fully funded public education and early childhood program funding matters.
Your dedication to standing together on behalf of our schools makes all the difference. When Bridlemile hosted legislators to visit our classrooms, it was clear that our legislators respond to what we show and tell them.
Our very own Bridlemile families are championing this campaign to tell the story and advocate for funding change. You can learn more about the Quality Education Model, mandating full funding for education by the legislature, and how to get involved at www.qualityeducationoregon.org
Thank you for your advocacy and commitment to our community. It is seen and felt every day.
Sincerely,
Katherine
Quarter 2 Report Cards
Quarter 2 Report Cards will be available on ParentVue on Monday, February 3rd. PPS has moved to paperless report cards this year, but we are choosing to take a little more time in the paper lane. We will print report cards for all students and send them home via student backpacks on Wednesday, February 5th.
Also coming home are individual student reports from our WINTER iReady Diagnostic Assessment. This report shares your student’s MATH growth target (what will we need to make one year’s worth of growth) and Fall-Winter progress towards that growth target. Students’ individualized MyPath lessons are also re-calibrated based on these winter assessments.
State Assessment Talk
Dr. Renard Adams, PPS Chief Accountability and Equity Officer, overviewed assessment tools and results at PPS for Bridlemile families. He answered questions about equitable school practices, benchmarks, and how results drive decisions about resources for academic interventions.
When asked what parents should take away from our school’s 23-24 report card, Dr. Adams noted Bridlemile’s performance overall is strong and that we have gaps to address in order to raise achievement for all students.
This year, to support all learners, Bridlemile is:
✔ Focusing on literacy and implementing literacy curricula with fidelity
✔ Assigning educational assistants to tutor individual students or small groups who need additional support
Dr. Adams emphasized that the goal should always be 100% proficiency: that all students are at or exceeding grade level standards. It is also important to point out that standardized tests and proficiency scores never tell the entire story of a student’s personal and academic journey.
Bridlemile’s at-a-glance report card is available from ODE. The Oregonian provides year-to-year data in a more convenient format.
Music- From Mr.Chaney
Students have been hard at work in music class. The younger grades have been learning about the instruments of the orchestra, long and short sounds (rhythm) as well as singing our favorite songs. The older grades have been studying rhythm, folk dancing and continuing to sing rounds and canons.
The Bridlemile Band and Orchestra has had a lot of fun learning famous tunes like Mary Had a Little Lamb, Ode to Joy, French Folk Song, and many others. I have been challenging the students and they are rising to meet the challenge head on!
Lost and Found
Lost and found will be rolled out to the playground for kids and parents to claim found items for the next two Fridays. We will also have found items available for pick up at the PTA Movie Night event. After movie night, PTA will donate all remaining items to the PPS Clothing Closet.

Oregon Battle Of the Books at Bridlemile
Pool Battles start on Wednesday, January 29th, after school!
We still need several volunteers to make this happen, so PLEASE sign up if you can: https://signup.com/go/sROuZdV We are expecting almost 90 kids and cannot do this without help!
Families are welcome to come and observe the battles. Can’t make it to the battles? Follow along with our digital scoreboard! Bridlemile OBOB Scoreboard 2025
IMPORTANT: To ensure a safe and smooth dismissal on Wednesday-please notify the Bridlemile Office and Champions (if your student attends aftercare) if your Beagles’ dismissal plans are different for this day. School buses can only leave campus once all students are accounted for and are where they need to be. Thanks for helping Bridlemile keep systems running smoothly and on time.
