Principal's Message
Dear Angell Community,
Dear Angell Families,
Our PTA is sponsoring a Holiday Shop where students can choose and purchase gifts for family members for the holiday season. We recognize that some our families may not have the means to support such an experience at school. However, in an effort to be inclusive and provide all students an opportunity to participate, our PTA has dedicated funds to support students.
If you would like your child to participate but cannot afford to send funds into school please complete the form below and I will work with our PTA to privately provide your child an opportunity to participate. We will provide your child the same form used by all students with a designated amount to spend.
This form must be submitted no later than Wednesday, November 29th as the Holiday Shop will open on Monday, December 4, 2023. Please use the button below to access the form.
Please make sure to include all the necessary information below so I can process your request in a timely fashion. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me directly at 248-837-8501 or Vincenzo.gigliotti@berkleyschools.org
I am grateful for the opportunity to partner with our PTA. This is one of many reasons I am thankful to be a part of the Angell community. I wish you and your families a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Counselor's Corner
We have had a busy week here at Angell with parent-teacher conferences and a pajama day. Tuesday was also the November PTA meeting and we were thrilled to see so many familiar faces as we met in the Art Room. We shared a little background information about executive functioning. Child Mind Institute defines the concept this way, “Executive functions are the essential self-regulating skills that we all use every day to plan, organize, make decisions, and learn from past mistakes.” Those of you who were Angell parents last year may remember the pieces we shared about each executive functioning skill. This year we continue working hard, helping your children to build those essential skills.
Here is a copy of the slide show where we introduced the concept of Get Ready, Do, Done. This is an executive function tool from Sarah Ward and Kristen Jacobsen that can be used to support so many daily tasks or assignments. We rolled it out at school as a way of planning out specific assignments, but it’s a great tool to use at home to support things such as getting ready for school, cleaning your bedroom, getting ready for bed, and so many other things. The trick is to begin with the end in mind, a concept we’ve been working on to picture what it looks like when it’s “Done”. Real photos work the best but a quick sketch also does the job. From that point you help your child come up with the “Do”, the steps you take to complete the task. The final planning step is the “Get Ready”, determining the materials you will need. Your children, from Kindergarten on up, can play a huge role in the planning process, which gives them agency in completing the task at hand. At the end of the slide show you’ll find some helpful links, including a little video about executive functioning. Here is a copy of the template for you to print at home. If you’re eager to use this at home but would like some more support, please let us know. We are happy to revisit this topic and to work with you to roll this out at home.
Tri-Community Coalition Presents: Mental Health Magician Anthony Grupido
The Tri-Community Coalition, in partnership with the JARA (Jewish Addiction Resource Alliance), invites the community to an afternoon session to hear from world-class magician and speaker Anthony Grupido.
Through his performance, The Magic of Hope, Mr. Grupido offers an important message on mental health, resilience and coping. Dealing with his depression, he uses this platform to talk to school-age kids about similar struggles they might be experiencing.
Performance is geared towards families with children ages 8 and up. Pre-registration is required to attend.
