Are you getting our emails?
If our emails from the ESC are going to your spam/junk folders or management systems, please talk to your IT Department. We are not able to fix this on our side as there are way too many variables on why it is getting marked as spam or blocked for our IT to be able to directly assist.
Apply Texas MOUs
Emails were sent to counselors and superintendents in June, but if you have not completed the form so that your superintendent can complete the MOU when they come out, please do so. If you aren't sure--just do it again! 😁Please note that all Apply Texas accounts are being reset and all access is being removed. If you are getting emails about extending your access, it will be dependent upon these MOUs and will not happen until after September 1. Here is a copy of the email:
Dear Texas ISD Leaders and Counselors,
Your school district’s agreement to access the ApplyTexas Counselor Suite will expire on
August 31, 2024. To retain access to the ApplyTexas Counselor Suite, your school district must complete a new agreement with The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB).
About the ApplyTexas Counselor Suite
The ApplyTexas System is maintained and managed by the THECB. In addition to hosting the state’s admission application for students, ApplyTexas also includes the Counselor Suite. The Counselor Suite is a dashboard that provides high school counselors at public schools – whose districts have entered into an agreement with the THECB – with select student-level information about ApplyTexas admission application and financial aid filing status for students attending their high school. Under a school district’s agreement, the ApplyTexas Counselor Suite shares Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and Texas Application for State Aid (TASFA) completion data with the district, which can be used as a method of proof to report that a student has met their high school graduation requirement.
How Can You Help?
Act Now! We ask you to please complete the ApplyTexas MOU Contact Form with the required information for a new agreement. This will assist us in collecting the essential information we need to send the agreement to the appropriate staff at your district for signature.
Questions or Need Assistance?
We're here to support you every step of the way. If you have any questions or require assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at applytexasmou@highered.texas.gov.
Sincerely,
ApplyTexas MOU Counselor Suite

Kids can develop anxiety from many things, such as interactions with new animals, separation from their parents, or doing something embarrassing. The Child Mind Institute created a resource page covering a variety of topics related to anxiety in kids. Anxiety can show up in a lot of different ways, including headaches, stomachaches, extreme shyness, and tantrums. Explore the anxiety resources page for topics including parenting anxious kids, anxiety in schools, specific phobias, and information on different types of anxiety.
Required Annual Notification of Nondiscrimination - MOA
TEA correspondence from July 18 - https://tea.texas.gov/about-tea/news-and-multimedia/correspondence/taa-letters/required-annual-notification-of-nondiscrimination-4
Reminder to post the annual notification of nondiscrimination before the first day of school. There are two components to this requirement for LEAs: annual nondiscrimination and the continuous nondiscrimination statements. This is a federal requirement for all LEAs.
If your school is selected for a MOA (Methods of Administration) Audit, evidence of these postings are required documentation to send to TEA. Typically, TEA announces the LEAs selected for MOA in September. Each ESC will have one or more LEAs selected.
Changes to Career Prep
Just a reminder, credit hours earned by a student in Career Preparation are dependent upon the number of hours worked (must be on training plan). TEA has created a General Career Prep and Career Prep Program of Study. Each of these are funded differently. Teachers assigned to Career Prep and Practicum courses are required to have WBL training. It is also a great training for counselors. ESC 15 will present WBL on August 1st or TEALearn offers an on demand training (please note the TEALearn training may not reflect most recent changes in SAAH). On August 1st we will also talk about the LEA requirements for WBL documentation if you are identified for a MOA audit.
