• We had two State qualifiers in skiing
• Rayna Robel- 9th in Slalom
• Keaton Abraham- 1st in Slalom "State Champ"
• GHS hosted Choir Festival this year
  Chamber Singers earned a Division 1 Excellent Rating
  Concert Choir earned a Division 2 Good Rating
  
• GHS Band traveled to Elk Rapids for Festival
  Symphony Band earned a Division 1 Superior which qualifies them for State Festival
  Concert Band earned a Division 2 Excellent Rating
  
• We had 4 wrestles qualify and compete for a State title

After looking over our Semester 1 grade reports we thought it would be important to show the connection between attendance and success at school. These data points are averages, but it really shows the link between good attendance and success at school...

• Students who failed 4 or more classes were absent 30% of the semester.
• Students who failed 3 classes were absent 28% of the semester.
• Students who failed 2 classes were absent 20% of the semester.
• Students who failed 1 class were absent 16% of the semester.
• Students who passed ALL of their classes were absent 2% of the semester.

Upcoming scholarship deadlines:

Community Financial Credit Union - March 14th at 5p

Cheryl Wojtas Memorial - March 15th at midnight

Otsego County Democratic Party - March 17th at 5p

Otsego County Farm Bureau - must be mailed in and received by OCFB by April 1st

Breanna Page McPhall Memorial - March 31st at midnight

Otsego Community Foundation - April 1st at midnight

Kiwanis Club - must be postmarked no later than April 2nd

Financial Aid Night:

Attention Senior Families! Come learn about financial aid and file your FAFSA at Financial Aid Night on Thursday, March 6th at 6pm in the GHS Media Center.

A financial aid expert from MI Student Aid will present “Financial Aid 101” and then school staff will help you file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which is the first step to paying for college or trade school.

Along with the picture(s), you may include quotes and/or congratulatory messages to your senior(s). Not only will your ad help finance the yearbook itself, but it will also give you, or your family, the chance to show your senior(s) how proud you are of their success, and how much they have grown. Yearbook Ad Form

Safety and Security is top priority for Gaylord Community Schools and we wanted to provide a link for the state wide OK2SAY program. OK2SAY is the student safety program which allows students to confidentially report tips on potential harm or criminal activities directed at students, school employees, and schools. It uses a comprehensive communication system to facilitate tip sharing among students, parents, school personnel, community mental health service programs, and law enforcement officials about harmful behaviors that threaten to disrupt the learning environment.
