Dates to Remember
Wednesday August 28th - 1:02 dismissal (Remember Wednesdays are always EARLY dismissal)
Monday September 3rd - No School - Labor Day
Hello Woodsy Owls,
Every child, every day is finding a way to feel connected;
Every child, every day knows they have a champion they can turn to; and
Every child, every day is being challenged with new learnings and experiences.
Hello Woodsy Owls,
What a great start to the year. Happy Kids, Happy Parents, and Happy Staff. Our Back to School Night was well attended, and the classes looked beautiful. I want to thank all of you that made the time to come and learn about your child's new classroom. In today's busy world it really is a challenge to make all of the events we are faced with. For those that were unable, there are only so many hours in the day, and I do know that not everyone works a 9-5 job. Your child's teacher will send home the information to you in the Walkhome folder and/or send you a message through the ParentSquare App. This App is the #1 method of communication we use, and I find it to be as easy to use as texting. If you haven't already installed it and began to use it, feel free to ask in the front office or another parent how to get started. It is so very easy.
I want to remind you that you need to check-in the office before visiting the classrooms or playgrounds. This ensures that we know everyone who is around your child. We have had a great many visitors walking kiddos to the playground and know that it helps the kiddos as they start a new year. Now that we are into week #3 (Wow - Going by so fast) I do need to remind you to pop in the office if you would like to escort your child to the play area. For our youngest of students, it is helpful if we transition away from that. Every child is different, and you know your kiddo best. If they are still needing assistance to the play area, please just pop in and pick up a visitor badge prior to going onto the play yard. If they are growing and ready to say goodbye at the gate, feel free to use this beginning of week #3 to start a new ritual. Maybe a quick poem or song at the gate or even a fancy handshake as I saw one kiddo do with his uncle the other day. Rituals matter and can greatly help kids with separation challenges.
Thanks for all of the great work at pick-up. I am pleased at the courtesy we are showing each other. Pick-up time is a challenge at all schools, and I am pleased to see what great patience and kindness our families show. I am sure proud to be a Woodsy Owl.
