The Sandwich Public Schools are currently conducting a strategic planning process, one that will inform school and district improvement plans for the next five years. We wish to get input from all district and town stakeholders on how we may continuously improve to best meet the many academic and social-emotional needs of our students.

The Strategic Planning Team is collecting both quantitative and qualitative data to guide goal setting in the plan. Part of that qualitative data entails a series of focus groups with various stakeholders to get their opinions on the current state of our schools and what improvements we should prioritize.

Focus group for families will be held virtually this week for parents according to this schedule:

The intent is to gather opinions/perceptions on the big picture, not to have any discussions related to an issue that is specific to you or your child.

On Tuesday, February 11 Oak Ridge fifth graders took a trip back in time as they featured Exploring the Revolution: A Student Showcase. All students showcased their research on famous people, places, and events from America's Revolutionary War era. Students created poster boards, models, and replica writings/diaries that demonstrated their knowledge. While many students researched well known figures such as George Washington, Paul Revere, and Molly Pitcher, some students also chose lesser known but seminal figures such as poet Phillis Wheatley and spy Anna Strong. Many thanks to the Oak Ridge 5th grade team and instructional coaches for creating the memorable learning exhibition!

The next meeting of the Sandwich Special Education Parents Advisory Council (SEPAC) will be held virtually this Tuesday, February 25 at 6:30 pm. It will be held virtually through Google Meet. In addition to updates from SPS Director of Pupil Services BJ McNamara on a variety of topics, a focus group (as described above) for families of students that receive services will also be conducted. Registration for students entering Kindergarten in September of 2025 will open on Monday, February 24th.

Go to the Sandwich Public Schools website (www.sandwichk12.org) to register. Navigate to the blue tab on top of the page and click "Our Schools." This will take you to Kindergarten Registration and Information link. Please make sure to read the list of required documents that need to be uploaded with the registration or brought into the office to complete the registration. Be sure you are registering for the 2025-2026 school year.
