Meadows Monday Message

Students took both math and reading assessments last week. Below are our fall testing session achievement scores. The percentiles you see are norm-based information about where students’ observed scores fall within the range of scores produced by other same-grade US students. The median percentile number you see to the left of the bar is the middle percentile value of our students’ percentiles when ordered from lowest to highest and the colored bands (quintiles) represent the five percentile levels based on NWEA normative data.

We are using this data to form tier 1 lessons as well as smaller targeted learning groups to work on specific skills during guided study.

Students will take a mid-year MAP assessment in December and we will analyze both achievement and growth data to inform instruction moving forward throughout the year.

As you know, fall sports tryouts and practices have begun in Madison middle schools, despite the high temperatures. While we cannot control the heat, we can take steps to ensure all athletes are safe. We would like to take this opportunity to inform you about the protocols our coaches and site athletic directors take before, during and after tryouts, practices and competitions to avoid any heat related illnesses.

All coaches and athletic directors at Madison schools receive and follow guidance provided through the Trust and the Valley Athletic Conference to which we belong. Below are the protocols staff are expected to follow to prevent and/or treat heat related illnesses should they occur.

We are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for all of our student-athletes. Your partnership in reinforcing these safety measures at home is invaluable. Together, we can ensure that our students enjoy a healthy and successful athletic season.

Last Thursday, students who were present took their annual school photo. If your student was absent and/or wants to retake their photo, we will have them take their photo on Friday, October 18th when Dorian is back on campus.
