BOYS BASKETBALL
NON-PUBLIC "B" CHAMPIONS
From Unexpected Call to Undisputed Champions:Celebrating Our Historic Season
Dear St. Rose High School Community,
I want to give a huge shout-out to the St. Rose boys' basketball team for an amazing season!
The Hodge brothers, were like rocket fuel for our team. They helped us crush it all season and take home the state championship by beating Immaculate Conception with a jaw-dropping score of 73-29. That win gave us our first title in almost 50 years and proved we're the top team in New Jersey.
Our defense was like a brick wall, especially with stars like Matt Hodge and Gio Panzini. Even though there wasn't a Tournament of Champions, our team showed they were champions through and through.
We might be waiting for the final rankings, but our players, with Matt Hodge leading the charge, have shown they care more about playing their best than any trophy or title. This season is a huge deal for St. Rose and the Shore Conference. It just goes to show that one simple phone call can lead to something epic.
Big congrats again to the whole team! Your hard work, talent, and team spirit have made St. Rose super proud. I can't wait to see what you do next!
Congratulations,
Mr. Bruce Peragallo
Athletic Director
PRIDE IN THE "R" DAY
Additionally, we also celebrate Josh Huisman's All American Title and his second year in the row earning first place in the Meet of Champions Shot Put. Joe Seib and Fiona Olsen also broke their personal records at this year's Meet of Champions. It was an award winning winter season and we want to celebrate them with a Pride in the "R" Day.
Additionally, this weekend our Pipe Band performed in another St. Patrick's Day parade. Last week they were in Belmar and on Saturday they battled out the rain for the Seaside Heights St. Patrick's Day parade.
And finally, if that wasn't enough, our Robotics Club under the direction of Mrs. Boland spent all weekend at Allentown High School for the Mid-Atlantic Robotic Competition. We are excited to discover their journey this week.
JOSHUA HUISMAN TAKES THE ALL AMERICAN TITLE
In winning a second straight indoor NJSIAA Meet of Champions gold medal in the shot-put March 3, St. Rose, Belmar senior Josh Huisman also broke Luke Grodeska’s eight-year-old school mark. That prompted the senior to note “It means a lot; that record was set by a legend.”
It was broken by a guy who’s fast becoming a legend. Huisman’s winning toss of 67-feet, 7-inches was the second best nationally this winter and the third best in Indoor Meet of Champions history.
Double the school spirit!

ROBOTICS CLUB TAKES 3RD
Robo Roses Take Third Place at FMA Allentown District Event!
Our very own Robo Roses robotics team competed this past weekend at the FMA Allentown District Event, and they brought home some serious hardware!
Using their tank drive and pneumatic shooter on their robot, aptly named "Thorn" (beware its sting!), the Robo Roses consistently scored points in the Speaker and Amplifier throughout the competition. Their dedication and collaboration shone through as they persevered through both mechanical and programming challenges.
The Robo Roses' hard work didn't go unnoticed! They were selected by the second alliance and narrowly missed advancing to the finals, ultimately securing an impressive third place finish with a score of 58-61.
FIRST Robotics is truly a "varsity sport for the mind," where everyone can become a pro. Our Robo Roses learned valuable lessons about patience, persistence, and teamwork, all while making new friends along the way.
The Robo Roses are back in action this coming weekend, March 23rd and 24th, at the Bensalem, PA event. Stay tuned for more exciting news! In the meantime, congratulations to our Robo Roses on their well-deserved win!

BLOOD DRIVE
St. Rose NHS Blood Drive: A Lifesaving Success!
We are thrilled to share the exceptional outcome of the blood drive sponsored by the National Honor Society (NHS) on March 6th. In a profound display of community and compassion, students rolled up their sleeves to contribute to a cause greater than themselves.
Over Thirty Pints Collected
Thanks to the collective effort, more than thirty pints of blood were collected during the event. Each pint has the potential to save multiple lives, making the impact of this drive truly significant. The donated blood will be instrumental in aiding patients in emergency situations and those undergoing medical treatments.
More Than Just a Donation
The blood drive was more than just an event; it was a powerful demonstration of our school's commitment to social responsibility. It highlighted the incredible difference we can make when we come together for a noble purpose.
The St. Rose NHS members, moved by the turnout and spirit of this event, look forward to organizing more endeavors that champion health and community welfare. To everyone who played a part — you have not just donated blood, but you have given hope and strength to those in need. Your generosity embodies the true spirit of NHS and sets an inspiring example for all.
Together, we save lives. Together, we are St. Rose strong!

Acre Assessment
Dear Parents/Guardians:
It is a natural inclination for each of us to want to know that we are doing a good job and to know that our efforts and hard work are achieving positive results. The case is no different in the realm of education.
Each year, students at all levels are assessed both to determine their grasp and understanding of material and to discover if there are ways that curriculum and instruction can be improved. Currently, the Diocese of Trenton administers the Star 360 assessments on the elementary level and a number of assessments such as the PSAT and the SAT on the secondary level to measure mastery of math and language. In our Diocese, however, there has been no formal assessment used to measure the knowledge and understanding of the principles of the Catholic Faith.
To that end, this year they began to assess that knowledge of the Faith by means of the ACRE Assessment from the National Catholic Education Association. The assessments will be administered in grades 5 and 8 on the elementary level and in grade 11 on the secondary level. Our Juniors will take the assessment on Tuesday, March 29th, during their religion period and should last approximately forty minutes.
It is the belief of the Department of Catholic Schools that an assessment such as this will provide the necessary data points to enhance Catholic identity, the Faith formation of our students, and Gospel values within our diocesan family. The information gleaned from the assessment results will provide the Department of Catholic Schools and the Department of Catechesis with much solid information to assist in developing the religion curriculum and the religious education programs in our schools and parishes.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me or reach out to Dr. Daniel T. O'Connell the Associate Director for Curriculum & Instruction in the Diocese of Trenton. Many thanks for supporting this important endeavor and for all that you do to support Catholic education in the Diocese of Trenton.
Academically yours,
Vice-Principal of Academics
