February 13 begins course registration for school year 2024-2025 with an informational video during Grizzly Period. On that day, students will receive registration materials including a course catalog. This year, registration will not be online but instead students will meet with a counselor and turn in a registration form.

Counselor registration meetings will occur on the following dates:

• February 20-22: Rising 12th graders in US History.
• February 27-February 29: Rising 11th graders in Modern World History
• March 12-14: Rising 10th graders in English 9.

Those absent during counselor visits will be invited to complete the registration process during a specific Grizzly Period March 22.

Spring Sports start February 26, if you are interested in playing any of our spring sports please make sure all forms are turned in before February 26 in order to tryout. Final Forms

Boys Basketball face Davis this Friday, February 23, 6 p.m. at Shorewood HS. All state games require tickets to get in. Students and Seniors $10, Adults $13. Get your tickets early by using the GoFan app before you get to the game.

Snohomish School District (Glacier Peak High School and Snohomish High School athletics) is pleased to announce that we are adding GoFan as a digital ticket-buying option. Fans can purchase tickets online through the appropriate GoFan pages or the GoFan app and all major credit cards are accepted, along with Apple Pay and Google Pay. The parent led Grad Night Party Committee will be at school during lunches for tickets sales on Mondays each week. Effective February 1, the ticket prices will increase to $225; exclusive Grad Night Party t-shirts will be limited availability. Questions?

Students pursuing a four-year STEM and health care degree at a Washington institution are now eligible to apply to the Washington Opportunity scholarship. This scholarship provides up to $22,500 in scholarship dollars and access to career-launching support services for high-demand STEM and health care majors. WSOS can cover costs beyond tuition such as housing, transportation, food, and more. Funding can be used for any eligible STEM or health care major at any eligible public or private college or university in Washington state. Interested students can learn more about income eligibility requirements, major requirements, and eligible institutions on the WSOS Baccalaureate Scholarship page. The deadline to apply is February 29 (including FAFSA).

Snohomish Education Foundation (SEF) 2024 Local Scholarship Program (LSP) scholarships are now available for district seniors at washboard.org. This year, there are nearly 100 different scholarships being offered to graduating seniors by individuals, school district alumni, businesses and organizations in our community. There is a wide variety of different types of scholarships recognizing all the different interests, hobbies and areas of focus – from future career paths, STEM, the arts, athletics and service – there is an opportunity for everyone.

Students can meet with their school's counselors or college and career center specialists about any of the scholarships, requirements, or for help in setting up a profile and creating application materials.

Glacier Peak High School may nominate two seniors for the Nellie Martin Carman Scholarship. If you would like your counselor to consider you for nomination, please complete this form. Awards for this scholarship range from $500 to $2,000 a year and are renewable for up to four years. For more information on the scholarship: https://carmanscholarships.org/. Juniors and seniors are invited to participate in the annual Trade Up! Apprenticeship Day. This is an opportunity for students to experience several hands-on activities in different trade areas in one space. This event will be held on Thursday, March 21, at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds, hosted by the Snohomish & Island County Labor Department in partnership with several local businesses and apprenticeship programs. Macho Volleyball is just around the corner! This year the tournament will be on Tuesday, March 5,

6 p.m. at Snohomish High School. Put together a team of 6-10 GP boys, any grade, and form a team! Sign - Up forms are available in the Main Office or Bookkeeping Office. Let's keep the GP reign going! Questions? See Mrs. Corwin in room 203.

On Saturday March 16 Glacier Peak Band boosters will be hosting the 2024 Glacier Peak Drumline Festival. Doors open at 10:30 a.m. starting in the GP gym. $7 for students, $12 for individuals and $23 for family. This event is fun for the whole family with 7 different drumlines and special guest Seattle Seahawks Blue Thunder.

The Glacier Peak High School parent organization’s mission is to recognize, support and honor student learning and well-being, to facilitate home/school communication, and support staff members. The Snohomish School District will be offering the ACT (American College Test) free of charge for all high school juniors. Glacier Peak High School Juniors will take their test on Tuesday, February 27, 2024 during the school day. This is an amazing opportunity for students to take a college entrance exam at no cost to families and for our schools to collect data that will help improve student learning.

**Juniors will need to have a school laptop to take the test, there will not be loaners available to you on the day of the test. Please stop by the library to get a laptop asap. If you wait until the week of the test, we may not have any available to give out, so please don't delay.

Look for instructions to be sent out the week of the test to ensure that all updates are installed and that your laptop is in good working order.**

PM at the Peak is an opportunity for students to get specific support in their classes. It is not simply a ‘study hall’. While students are welcome to use the time to study and work independently, it is designed to provide students an opportunity to ask for, and receive help from teachers on their homework, essays, or use the computers.

To maintain accurate attendance records we would like to provide these helpful reminders and tips for reporting an absence, a late arrival or request for an early dismissal. Choose from one of the four easy ways to report absences.

• Enter a request in Family Access/Skyward
• Email gph-attendance@sno.wednet.edu
• A written note signed by a parent/guardian or medical/dental provider.
• Please provide your student's first and last name, the date of the absence and a reason for the absence. Please spell the name if needed.
• An absence will be considered excused when we receive notification from a parent or legal guardian in the attendance office within 48 hours of the absence.
