Board Update

January 2025
Dover Schools Community Member:
Happy New Year! We are happy to be back and working toward new goals and routines. While we've certainly had our share of crazy winter weather this month with more cancellations than usual, we're excited to kick off 2025 with renewed energy and focus.
At our recent Board of Education meeting, we welcomed our new officers: Brian Hanner as Board President and Anne Bruno as Vice-President. Congratulations to both! We also had the opportunity to highlight the family engagement activities happening in our pre-school program at South School.
January is School Board Appreciation Month, and we want to take this opportunity to express our sincere gratitude and respect for our Dover City Schools Board Members. Their dedication and commitment to our students and staff are truly appreciated.
As always, we value your input and encourage you to reach out with questions or feedback.
Sincerely,
Karie McCrate
Superintendent

FEATURED PROGRAM
South School Pre-School: A "Gold Star Program"
At each meeting, the Board of Education welcomes in students and/or staff to share a program from one of our schools. In January, Mrs. Tracie Murphy, South School Principal, and Mrs. Amy Owens and Mrs. Ashley Kline, Pre-School Teachers, shared the work they do to engage the families of our youngest learners. We are excited to share that our program earned the highest rating and is a "Gold Star PreSchool." 🌟
We are thankful for all the ways our families are a part of our youngest learners' school experience!

Snowfall fun ⛄
Mrs. Haynam’s students have been falling into the science of snow! They’ve learned how each snowflake is unique, what makes snow, and even created their own paper snowflakes.
Recently, they bundled up and headed outside to catch real snowflakes on black paper, seeing the beauty of each unique flake up close. They had SNOW much fun bringing their lessons to life!
We are respectful, responsible, and safe!
Thank you, Mrs. Moser!
Congratulations to Mrs. Vera Moser, Dover Middle School secretary and twenty-one year employee at Dover City Schools, on her retirement! December 20 was her last day in the DMS office. We thank Mrs. Moser for her years of service to the Dover community and wish her well on her next big adventure: retirement
