A Note from the Principal

We made it to the final week of school! Here are some important updates and events to keep in mind:

🎪End of the Year Carnival🎪: Monday, May 20. Please send your child in comfortable, appropriate athletic attire. Apply sunblock and insect repellant at home. Don’t forget to send a water bottle labeled with your child's name. The PTA will have small concessions for sale throughout the day.
⚠️🎒Last Day for Backpacks⚠️🎒: Monday, May 20, 2024, is the last day students can bring backpacks to campus.
🩰🎼Talent Show🎼🩰: Tuesday, May 21, 2024. If your child is participating, two guests are welcome to attend. The show starts at 8:30 AM.
📚AR Scholars Luncheon 📚: Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 12 PM. Congratulations to those students who read 500,000 words or more!
🤩GT Showcase🤩: Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 1:30 PM in the OES Cafeteria. Parents of 1st-5th grade GT students are invited to join us.
🐾LFHS Senior Walk / OES 5th Grade Walk and Farewell BBQ/Dance🐾: Wednesday, May 22, 2024. We will celebrate our graduating former Ocelot students and our current 5th graders with a special walk, followed by a BBQ and Farewell Dance in the afternoon for our 5th grade students.
☀️Kona Ice Treat for All Students☀️: Wednesday, May 22, 2024. All students will enjoy a visit to the Kona Ice truck courtesy of OES Admin.
🥳Last Day of School🥳: Thursday, May 23, 2024. Students will enjoy classroom parties, and final report cards will be sent home. Join us for our annual Curbside Summer Send-Off by decorating your vehicle or simply honking your horn as you drive off! Regular dismissal time.
Thank You!: We extend our heartfelt thanks for your continued support and partnership throughout this school year. Your involvement has been crucial to our success.

Important Reminders for OES Families

☑️Dress Code Reminders☑️

As per district policy, all sweaters/jackets must have an opening in the front (zipper, buttons, or cardigan style). For safety purposes, NO pull-over style sweaters are allowed.

👀👀Parents of 5th Grade Students: 👀👀

Please provide a friendly reminder to your child to keep their shirts tucked in during the school day. A majority of students have already started to wear belts as well, but please keep in mind that by January 8, 2024, ALL 5th-grade students will be required to have their shirts tucked in AND wear a belt. Thank you for your attention to this matter!

📵📵Cell Phone/Electronic Device Usage📵📵

📃As per district policy, cell phone use is not allowed on campus. Please be advised that all students have been given a warning not to use their cell phones/electronic devices before, during, or after school.

👀If students are found using their device, their device will be confiscated and a parent will be required to pick up the device from the front office. If another infraction is noted, as per district policy, a fee will be enforced in order to retrieve the device.

☑️Please speak with your child about this policy to ensure they understand. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

⌚📵 Smart Watch Policy Reminder 📵⌚

As a friendly reminder, please note that smart watches with cell phone connectivity are not allowed to be worn by students, as per page 58 of the Student Code of Conduct. If a student is found wearing such a device at school, it will be confiscated, and a parent will be responsible for coming to pick it up. In the event of a repeated offense, a fee will be required to collect the device. We thank you for your attention to this matter and for helping us maintain a focused and conducive learning environment.
