St. Viator Parish School

Since 2002, September 11 has been celebrated as Patriot Day to honor the memory of the nearly 3,000 who died in the September 11, 2001, attacks.

Students are invited to wear red, white, and/or blue tops, socks, and accessories with uniform bottoms on Wednesday, September 11th to celebrate Patriot Day.

We are kicking off Campus Ministry & Campus Outreach next Tuesday with our 6th graders!

We are in the process of ordering t-shirts for all of our 6th, 7th and 8th graders. 6th graders will enjoy free dress for their Campus Ministry & Campus Outreach Retreat (please see parent student handbook online and adhere to all policies).

In addition to growing deeper in their faith, our students are invited to participate in service learning projects. St. Viator School values providing the students with an opportunity to have a meaningful experience in serving those in need within our local community.

This month students will be making Hygiene Care Packages for teens which will students will drop off to an organization called for Project 150 . https://www.project150.org/about-1. Their mission is to provide free support and services to homeless, displaced and disadvantaged high school students so they can remain in school, graduate and build bright futures. This is the perfect place for our students to learn about developing their call to serve and how to live out Catholic social teaching following the vision of the of the Viatorians.

Students whose parents attend the meeting will have a free dress day on Thursday, September 12th.

The Halloween Carnival is just around the corner, and we are excited to invite you to join us in planning this spooktacular event for the students. We will be having a planning meeting on Thursday, September 12, after drop-off in the cafeteria. Please be sure to check in at the front office before joining us. We will discuss the various aspects of the carnival, including decorations, games, food, entertainment, etc. We are in need of many volunteers to help us put together this Halloween Carnival. Whether you can spare a few hours on the day of the carnival or assist with planning and preparations in the weeks leading up to the event, your contribution will make a difference.

TERRA NOVA TESTING: Terra Nova testing will be administered to students in Grades 2 through 8. Taking tests can be hard work – requiring lots of energy. We recommend that students get plenty of rest and eat a nourishing breakfast and lunch on test days. Please be sure to have your children arrive at school on time. In addition, we would ask you to schedule routine doctor/dentist appointments away from next week. Homework assignments will be minimal during test week. Most importantly, don't forget to ask your child(ren) about the testing each day. Thank you!

With your help we can make it a big success! The money earned from this fundraiser has been used year after year to help put on PTO events and fund projects around campus. Katie will be appearing for a “Meet & Greet” session on Saturday, September 21 at 10:00 AM at SPOILED PAWS in Henderson. SPOILED PAWS is the official dog groomer and sponsor for Katie Grimes and family. Please come and show your support to a proud Nevadan and get a picture and autograph from Katie.

SPOILED PAWS is a St. Viator family owned business, stop by and say hello to Mr. and Mrs. Peredo (parents of Myles, Maximus, and Maddox). During the event, mention that you are part of the St. Viator Family, and receive a 10% discount on any retail purchase.

WHEN: Wednesday September 25th, all students in grades K-8 will embark on a school wide field trip to see the movie The Wild Robot. Our entire school read this book last year during Nevada Reading Week!

HOW/WHERE: The school has ordered 8 buses and all students/staff will ride on buses to the Green Valley Ranch Movie Theater for a 10:00 am Pre-Screening of the (yet to be released) Wild Robot movie.

COST: $30 per student. This fee includes: a movie ticket, bus transportation to and from Green Valley and kid size snack for the movie (popcorn, soda, fruit snack)!

STAFF CHAPERONES: Our school will take most of our staff on this trip and the staff members will ride on the buses with the kids. We will also take the School Nurse, Principal, and Vice Principal.

FAMILY CHAPERONES: We need parents/guardians to chaperone for this field trip, complete the Google Form to sign up (all parents wishing to volunteer as a chaperone must have completed the safe environment training on the CMG website and completed the background/fingerprint process.). If a parent/guardian volunteers, they must drive themselves to and from the movie and join us (their student will ride with their class on the bus).
