Beginning this year, all families must apply for free or reduced meals via paper or online via Genesis Parent Portal OR they must opt out via the Genesis Parent Portal. Each family has to make one choice or the other.

A Letter of Commendation from the school and National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC), which conducts the program, will be presented by the principal to this scholastically talented seniors.
About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2025 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2025 competition by taking the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).
“Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” commented a spokesperson for NMSC. “These students represent a valuable national resource: recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”
Dale made an appearance at Thursday Night’s PTO sponsored Back to School Picnic at Walter C. Black Elementary School. It was a great night for all who attended!
The Kindergarten students in Mrs. Velez Cruz’s class at WCB proudly shared all the wonderful qualities they have!
Hispanic Heritage Month at Ethel McKnight Elementary School
Perry L. Drew Elementary School back to school night was a success! Thank you to our amazing community for coming out to connect, explore, and kick off a fantastic year together. Here’s to new beginnings and endless possibilities!
Melvin H. Kreps Middle School hosted their Back-to-School Night on Thursday, September 19. Thank you to all of the parents/guardians who attended the event, had the chance to tour the school, and meet with their child's teachers. Thank you to all the staff for their energy as they welcomed families into their classrooms. The HHS Spanish Honor Society students did an amazing job helping to translate for our Spanish-speaking families and the MHK Peer Leaders and Student Council members provided support with directions around the building.
Rush Week at Hightstown High School! Students spent their lunch period gaining and delivering information to showcase all of the incredible clubs we have at Hightstown!
Catholic Charities, Diocese of Trenton came in during Hightstown High School lunches to provide students with important information and resources for suicide awareness month. Students participated in trivia and jeopardy to discuss signs, ways to enhance self-care, and how to seek help!
