School Safety
Please be aware that due to the safety of our students and staff, our entire campus is locked during the school day. This includes the front and side office doors. Please call the office if you need assistance upon arriving at the school. We kindly ask that you do not knock on the glass doors. No one will enter the office until properly identified. Doors will be unlocked from 7:30 am to 8:00 am and again after school at 2:15 pm. Your cooperation is much appreciated.
If your child has an appointment and needs to be picked up early, please call the office when you arrive at the school. Students will not be pulled from class to sit and wait for parents in the office. Thank you for your understanding.
All gates are locked at 8:00 am, if your child is not on campus prior to 8:00 am your child is tardy and will need to be brought to the front office double doors at the front of the school for a tardy slip. Please understand that if your child is not in their seat in class at 8:00 am, they are considered tardy. Our gates open at 7:40 am and your child may be dropped off as early as 7:30 am at which time we do have supervision. Please, for the safety of your children, do not drop them off prior to 7:30 am.
After School Pick-Up
When picking up students in lower grades, please do not wait around the 4th grade classrooms (rooms 251-253) as they are still in session. Please exit the front gates and wait for your older students at the front of the school. Fourth grade instructional time is very important and it is imperative that teachers are still be able to keep the kids engaged without interruptions. Thank you for understanding.
Oranges with Officers
Here are some pictures of Oranges with Officers. The students had a blast hanging with our local officers and socializing while eating some yummy oranges.
Renaissance Fundamentals Social Emotional Screener
September 6, 2024
Dear Parent or Guardian,
We are writing to inform you of your student’s participation in a brief survey to assist us in supporting the social and emotional well-being of our students. With a continued commitment to addressing social and emotional barriers to learning, we are asking that all students enrolled in our school complete the Pupil Attitudes to Self and School (PASS) survey. Developed by a team of educational psychologists from multiple universities, PASS provides teachers with highly reliable and valid information into how they feel about themselves as a learner and how they feel about school. Available in twenty languages, PASS allows schools to detect possible barriers to student learning, including issues around confidence, resilience, motivation, and concentration. The PASS survey will allow our school to proactively address non academic barriers to learning, which can compromise the well-being and academic success of our students. The PASS survey will be administered to students enrolled in kindergarten through twelfth grade in the Fall, Winter and Spring. Please be assured that student confidentiality will be strictly protected. The results of this survey help our site to design supports and provide opportunities for kids based upon the demonstrated interests and needs of our youth.
We have attached sample questions for you to review and if you do not want your child to participate, complete the attached Google form by September 18, 2023.
Attached you will find all the questions that will be asked on the PASS screening.
If you have questions or wish to discuss this further, contact me at
cvelasco@pasoschools.org or 805-769-1200
Best,
Cristina Velasco

Birthday Celebrations in the Classroom
We love to celebrate our students' birthdays and other special days in our students lives. Due to having students with allergies and our wellness policy, we highly encourage parents to bring non-food items. Some great options are books, pencils, bubbles, stickers, coloring books, fidgets, or other treats that all students can enjoy. Thank you for understanding.
Parent Volunteers
To our Dear volunteers,
Please be aware that you will not be allowed to “volunteer” in order to hand out treats on your child’s birthday. The purpose of a volunteer is to help the teacher in the classroom, with classroom projects, and on fieldtrips. Please understand that instructional time is very valuable. We ask that you please not take advantage of your volunteer clearance to try to have classroom birthday parties. We do not allow classroom birthday parties. You are welcome to drop off treats at the front office before the end of the day so your student can share them with the class at the end of the day. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter.
