Congratulations to all of the contestants that made it to the competition.
2023 TMS SPELLING BEE
With almost thirty competitors, the 2023 Taylor Middle School Spelling Bee was very competitive. After quite a few rounds of challenging words, two students came out on top.
The second-place recipient was sixth-grade student, Timothy Schrader.
The first-place recipient and overall TMS Spelling Bee Champion was eighth-grade student, Thea Godel. Congratulations to all of the contestants who made it into the Spelling Bee.
DECA DISTRICT 5 COMPETITION
DECA's mission is to prepare emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for careers in marketing, finance, hospitality, and management in high schools and colleges around the globe.
On January 27, 2023, Taylor competed in the District 5 Competition held at the Harrison Activity Center. Seven Taylor students earned DECA Diamond Awards and qualified for the DECA Career Development Conference in Columbus on March 10-11, 2023. If the competitors earn an additional Diamond Award at the state level, they will move on to the International Development Conference in Orlando, Florida in April.
The award recipients from Taylor High School are as follows.

Elayna Bender, Delana Hinman, and Macy Ilg--2nd Place Start-Up Business Plan
Emma Stratton--3rd Place in Principles of Business Management Individual
Sean Taylor--3rd Place in Entrepreneurship Individual
UC EARLY IT PROGRAM AT THS
The UC Early IT program at THS is so proud to have 8 seniors accepted into the degree of Information Technology or Cyber Security at the University of Cincinnati. This is the largest class to have completed the program since it was first offered 5 years ago. The University of Cincinnati came to Taylor HS to honor these students in person and congratulate them on their acceptance and accomplishments. The students were presented with certificates, stoles for graduation, and some goodies!
Andre' Vogel, Ricky Johnson, Colby Gleckler, Gabe Wood, Dakota Clark, Derrick Johnson, Caleb Mastruserio, and Ella Seibert will be heading to UC in the fall with Sophomore status earned by completing the Early IT Program. SCHOLASTIC ART AWARD RECIPIENTS
Congratulations are in order for a group of Taylor High School student artists.
Scholastics is the largest high school visual art competition in the United States. Teens in grades 7-12 (ages 13 and up) apply to 29 categories of art and writing. Submissions are juried by art professionals. Panelists look for works that exemplify originality, technical skill, and the emergence of a personal voice or vision. Out of over 5,000 entries, the following Taylor art students were chosen for this prestigious exhibition.
Taylor won 12 individual awards:

Job & Career Fair and Career Day
2/15/23- 8th Grade Career Day. We are looking for professionals for one or both sessions to share their careers with a small group of students.
Sessions run from 8:00 am - 11:00 am or 11:45 am - 2:00 pm. If interested please just send me their contact details and I will reach out to them.
3/23/23- Job & Career Fair. We are looking for employers who may be hiring full, part-time, or seasonal workers in the Cincinnati area. Our juniors and seniors will be attending this fair and we will open it up to the public as well so it would be a 2-hour commitment from 2 pm to 4 pm.
GE Foundation - Next Engineers
The GE Foundation has committed $5M over 5 years to Next Engineers in the Cincinnati area.
The program, dedicated to increasing the diversity of young people in engineering, is a global college-readiness program that provides students in grades eight to 12 with hands-on exposure to engineering concepts and careers and ultimately awards scholarships to pursue engineering degrees.”
