From the Principal.... Matt Clark
Navigating middle school life with my daughters has been a journey—and despite all my time working with this age group, I’m still just figuring it out! With my youngest, this is attempt number two as a middle school parent and I try to apply what I learned from my first time around. While my girls are very different adolescents, one thing they have in common is that sometimes our conversations feel a bit like pulling teeth.
I know I’m not alone in those “fine,” “good,” or “nothing” exchanges that make you feel like you’re trying to pull a rabbit out of a hat just to hear about their day. Here’s a tip I’ve found that helps (a bit): ask follow-up questions that are more difficult to dodge. After the classic, “How was your day?” try following up with “What was one good thing about it?” or “Who did you talk to today, and what did you talk about?” Even simple asks like “What was the most challenging thing you learned?” or “What’s something you’re looking forward to tomorrow?” can steer the conversation somewhere fresh. No magic solution here, just a strategy that has occasionally sparked better responses in the Clark household. Keep at it—those little moments are worth it!
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and Roll Thunder!

Math Corner with Mrs. Zitella
Historical Moments…
LeBron James and his son, Bronny James, made history this week on the basketball court. This is the first time that a father-son duo played together on the same team in the same game in NBA history. As a prank, LeBron filled his son’s car up with Fruity Pebbles. When Bronny was ready to hop in his car and head to the game, he opened his car door and out poured the Fruity Pebbles. Bronny’s Mercedes was completely FILLED with Fruity Pebbles! The amount of math that could be done with this is endless…
(Hypothetically)
Volume of the car:
Trunk space: 12.9 cubic feet
Passenger interior volume: 56 cubic feet
Cups of cereal per box:
15 cups per box
If one cup is equal to 0.00836 cubic feet, how many cups of Fruity Pebbles were in Bronny’s car? How many boxes of cereal were used?
