Fall Parent Teacher Conferences

Please register for parent-teacher conferences online, using Meet the Teacher, by Sunday, October 16 at 11:00 pm. Fall 2022 MAP results will be sent home at conferences (2nd - 5th grade).

Register for Family Bingo Night

Family Bingo Night is tomorrow - come ready to eat, play and visit with friends! Tickets can be purchased until 12:00 pm on Friday. Check-in begins at 6:15 pm and Bingo will start at 6:45 pm. Please contact Bridget Winkler at bridgetcwinkler@gmail.com, with any questions.

Elementary School Cross Country (XC) Meet

The district-wide XC meet will take place on Monday, October 17 (rain date 10/18) at Ron Beese Park (50 Rotary Drive). All elementary students (K-5th) are encouraged to participate or come and cheer on the Hough Hawk runners. Hough spiritwear (and cowbells) are encouraged. The events are as follows:

Course walk will take place at 4:00 pm
Fifth grade mile (girls) will begin at 4:30pm
Fifth grade mile (boys) will begin at 4:45pm
Elementary (K-4th grade) half-mile (boys/girls) will begin at 5:00pm
Awards will follow the final race

Giant Pumpkin Raffle

Our Student Council is raffling off the Hough Giant Pumpkin next week. If you are interested in being the envy of the block, click here to purchase an online raffle ticket for $1.00 no later than Wednesday, October 19 at 8 pm. Mr. George will deliver the giant pumpkin to the winner’s house on Friday, October 21. All proceeds will be donated to the local Barrington Food Pantry.

Halloween

Halloween is fast approaching and we are excited for the return of Hough’s Costume Parade on Monday, October 31st at 1:15 p.m. Costumes should be easy for the student to change into by themselves with minimal adult assistance. Students are encouraged to wear as much of their costume to school as possible. Costumes should be elementary-age appropriate (no gore, no weapons, etc.). If make-up is part of the costume, this must be applied at home, prior to school. We will adhere to the existing, grade-specific lunch/recess schedule on October 31. Due to the structure of our lunch and recess times, we strongly discourage students from going home during lunch to change into costumes.

The parade will begin at 1:15 pm, outside, weather permitting. Spectators are welcome to line the sidewalks along the route:

Begin at the south gate on the large playground
West on Lincoln Avenue to Dundee Avenue
North on Dundee to Lake Street
East on Lake Street to Hough School Main Entrance

Classroom parties (1st-5th grade) will begin following the parade, at approximately 1:45 pm. Kindergarten parties will take place at 9:00 am. Room Parents will be in touch with party volunteers regarding check-in procedures, etc.
