Good Afternoon St. Anselm Families,
October Calendar
The October calendar is coming home today. It's orange. Please check your students' backpacks for it! It will be a busy month!
Fleece and Sweatshirt Orders
All Fleece and Sweatshirt orders from a couple weeks ago are coming home today. Students have been given these pieces in bags that are labeled. Please write your child's name in their garment. Many end up in lost and found!
We have some extra, limited sizes in the office. Contact Mrs. Delaney if your student needs a fleece.
Uniform Policy Reminders
When a student is out of uniform, a uniform violation will come home. If there are three or more uniform violations, a student will serve a lunch detention.
All boys should be in navy or black pants (or shorts for Q1 or Q4), red or black polo, white, navy or black crew socks (no logos) and tennis shoes or dress shoes. Boys must wear belts.
All girls must be in a jumper (1-4) or a skirt (5-8). Skirts should be knee-level and fit well. Girls wear red or black polos, knee or crew socks in school colors (no logos), and tennis shoes or dress shoes. Girls can wear shorts or pants in plaid, navy or black. Girls who wear pants must wear a belt.
Boys hair should be neat and above the ears. No extravagant jewelry for anyone. There is a limit of small earrings, natural hair color, no crazy dyes, two bracelets and one necklace. Girls should not wear make-up (no foundation, blush, lipstick or colored gloss, mascara, or eye liner). No nail polish.
All gym uniforms are purchased through the office. Black or grey in color with the Stag logo. No spiritwear on gym days.
When it's cold, students are allowed to wear the red or black uniform fleeces, or the Schoolbelles sweaters only.
As a reminder, we have school uniforms to limit distractions for our students. We have plenty of out of uniform days where students can choose clothing to wear. Students are in school to learn and grow, and should not have to worry about uniforms.
Thank you for your help with this!
Have a great weekend!
Mrs. Kraetke
The Counselor's Corner
Hello Parents!
We are about to finish our 4th week of school! How are you doing? How are your children doing?
I am a strong proponent of early intervention! The sooner an issue is identified, the sooner we can all work together to help bring about a better result. We work as a team here at St. Anselm! I regularly have conversations with teachers, and we talk about strategies that increase student success on a variety of levels. Success is not defined solely by grades, and I talk about this with students all the time. I think a well-rounded approach is critical.
With this said…here are a few things to consider:
How are the home routines going (wakeup, bedtime, homework, extra-curricular)?
Is your child(ren) getting an optimal amount of sleep each night?
Does your child(ren) have an organization system he/she is comfortable with? Does your child take charge of his/her daily responsibilities? Reminders are necessary with any new situation or change. Over time, they should fall into a routine THEY CAN OWN!
Are you monitoring their time and content on digital devices?
I am here to help! Please let me know if your child needs some extra support or if you need another adult to reinforce the positive routines/habits you have in place.
Thank you for partnering with us in educating your child(ren)! Reach out at any time by contacting the school office or by email…cgaynier@saintanselmschool.
Learning, Growing, and Seeking Help
Uniform and Gym Uniform Reminders
During the first quarter, students can wear regular uniform shorts with their regular uniform. They can also wear gym shorts with their gym shirts. The shorts have to be "uniform."
All students who choose to wear gym shorts to PE are to be in the St. Anselm issued Gym shorts, which are available for purchase in the office. Shorts and pants that have been ordered will come home today. No one is to be wearing plain black shorts after they receive their shorts from the office. They can continue to wear their PE sweatpants to avoid confusion. Out of uniform notices will be issued for any student out of compliance.
If there are issues with a student's uniform, please call the office and we can help!
Be sure to keep the sick chart in mind when thinking of returning to school!

* My child will attend regular practices or I will give notice to the coach regarding any necessary absences via phone call, text, email, or note to the main office. Please do not ask another athlete to relay a verbal message. If a student is absent from school on that day of a scheduled practice or game, then that student CANNOT participate in the scheduled practice or game. All exceptions will be reviewed by the school principal and athletic director to make a final decision. *

St. Anselm Catholic Parish Mass Times
Attendance at weekend mass is important! All Catholic families should find the time to attend mass on Saturday afternoon or Sunday morning. By attending mass, you are solidifying the importance of our faith in our young people. We attend mass as a school community. Please attend mass as a family, too.
Our mass times are as follows:
Saturdays at 4:30 PM
Sundays at 10:00 AM, 12:00 PM
Remember to bring your envelope to mass every week! If you forget to turn it in at mass, you can send it with your student and your student's homeroom teacher will send the envelope to the office.

Why would a family want or need to apply for benefits?
Families can apply using the Family Portal by simply clicking "benefits." Based on income and other small factors, families can be given free or reduced lunches which proves to be helpful in many ways!
This application is simple and does not require any additional forms to be uploaded.
In addition, our school is given Federal Funding based on our students who receive free and reduced lunch. The more students who qualify, the better. Because of federal funding, we are able to provide after-school tutoring, in school tutoring, additional, non-core classes and activities, free field trips, books and supplies, technology, and more.
The application is simple and private! Please consider filling it out today! The link is below.
