Principal's Notes
Dr. Matt Thompson- High School
Greetings, Rangers!
We are still off to a great start this school year, and the energy in our halls is extremely positive. I am pleased to share some exciting news with you all: Mr. Keller, one of our dedicated teachers, has been honored with Ivy Tech's Adjunct Faculty Award for Southwest Indiana. This prestigious award was highly competitive, with over 200 eligible instructors in the running, and Mr. Keller's achievement speaks volumes about his commitment to excellence in education.
Please join me in congratulating Mr. Keller on this well-deserved recognition. We are proud to have him as part of our Forest Park Faculty.
Let’s continue to make this year a great one!
Mr. Haas- Junior High
Be on the lookout for information on the upcoming 8th grade Washington D.C. trip. It is just around the corner.
The initial meeting for next year's trip is scheduled for January. Parents can start budgeting for that trip now. We anticipate the cost to be around $475-$500 next year because of increased costs associated with transportation. We would like to have trips paid for in early 2025 because we are invoiced as we reserve our tickets.
We've experienced some illnesses in the past few weeks as students and staff have come back to school. Keep in mind that it is critical to the success of our students to be here every day they can be here. Of course, our children will be ill, have injuries, or encounter other events that prevent them from being at school, but we want them here as often as possible.
I'll see you at the Birdseye Picnic tonight and tomorrow.

8th Grade: Courses for High School Credit
The following classes are being taught for high school credit in the 8th grade: Spanish I, German I, Algebra I, Physical Education, and Preparing for College and Careers (Mrs. Dilger’s section ONLY).
Students will receive high school credit for these classes, and the semester grade will also be included on the student’s high school transcript.
Taking courses for high school credit is a great opportunity for our students, however; students need to make sure they are doing their best as they begin earning grades that will be reflected on their transcripts.

4 Good Community Educational Relief Donation Day
To reward students for their participation in the Jr. High Ranger Bucks program last year, Forest Park 8th and 9th graders will have the opportunity to participate in Amazon’s 4 Good Community Educational Relief Donation Day on September 4th.
4 Good Community believes that everyone should have the access to pursue a generous heart - and believes it is just as special to give than to receive! Donation Day allows students to pick everyday household items that they believe would benefit their family or friends in some way. Items range in size and value but the biggest hope is that students never forget how valuable an opportunity to be generous is!
Permission forms will be sent home with 8th and 9th grade students and will be required for students to participate. We will be in need of parent volunteers on this day to assist with sorting and unboxing items, beginning around 7:30 AM. Parents who are interested in volunteering would need to have a current background check on file or completed. Parents who are interested in volunteering should contact Audrey Fleck at audrey.fleck@sedubois.k12.in.us.
