Riddle Me This
Roaring Readers, Get Your Read On
If you catch your child doing this...
1. Transitions: Take three deep breaths and then listen for the sound of the bell to fade away before moving on.
2. Take Five: Have student sit quietly and observe five things they can see; then shut their eyes and count four things they hear; then notice three things they can touch; two things they can smell, and one thing they can taste.
3. Quiet Corner: A space set up where children can go to deal with difficult emotions, which might have pillows, stuffed animals, books or smooth stones. Should feel inviting.
4. Mindful Walking and Centering: When standing, focus on sensation of the weight on the feet and the pressure of the feet on the floor. When walking, maintain the awareness of weight shifting from one foot to the other.
