Supporting Regular Attendance – We're Here to Help!
Dear Families,
At Longwood, we understand that life can sometimes get in the way of maintaining regular school attendance. Whether it's unexpected challenges, health concerns, or family commitments, we know how hard it can be to juggle everything.
Attendance is essential to your child’s success, not only academically but also socially and emotionally. Each day at school provides opportunities for learning, connecting with friends, and exploring new ideas. Our team is here to help ensure that every child has the support they need to attend regularly and thrive.
If you’re facing barriers that make attendance difficult, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Whether you need assistance with transportation, navigating medical appointments, or other resources, we’re ready to work together to find solutions.
Your child’s success is our top priority, and we believe that by partnering with families, we can help every student succeed.
Thank you for being an integral part of our school community. Let’s work together to make 2025 a great year for everyone!
At Longwood, please contact Jennifer Campen, student services coordinator or Mike Zeman, principal at (630) 428-6789 / jennifer_campen@ipsd.org / michael_zeman@ipsd.org to request support for your child’s school attendance.
Warm regards,
Michael Zeman
Principal, Longwood Elementary
🚌 Longwood Walking Bus 🦁
Did you know that all Longwood students live within 1.5 miles of our school? As a neighborhood school, we do not have bus transportation for our students. However, we understand the challenges walking can pose for our students, especially in the winter months.
A walking bus is a group of students who walk to school together under the supervision of a trained route leader (volunteer or school employee). Walking busses walk along a designated route picking up students at their homes or intersections near their homes.

🫶 Parent/Guardian Volunteers Needed!
Volunteers are needed for our upcoming hearing and vision screenings. Volunteers would pick up students from their classrooms, wait with them while the screenings are performed, and then walk students back to class. 2.5hr morning and afternoon volunteer slots are available. Thank you so much for supporting our students and Nurse Peggy! Sign up and details are here.
