Congratulations to the winners of the PTO Mike's Farm Thanksgiving Dinner, Rebecca Grant, Instructional Coach and Dailyn Tovar, kindergartener. PTO raised $245 hosting this raffle.

Four of our military affiliated students were chosen for Flag Patrol. Anna Millice, Gavin Campbell, Gianna Miles and Devin Mrak. We appreciate these students raising and lowering the flags each day.

Congratulations to three of our second graders placing in the school chess tournament. 1st place Katerine Castellanos, 2nd place Landon Headden, and 3rd place Skylar Tanner. There will be more chess tournaments held, so please sign up your child on Chesskids to practice at home.

Our class winners for passing two lessons in iReady Math each week for K-2 are Mr. Lane, Mrs. Tanner and Mrs. Carlton and for 3rd-5th Mrs. Sawyer, Ms. Sisseck, Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Taylor. Awesome job working on your math pathway!

Our Sunshine Committee needs your help with a special treat for staff. If you would like to donate to our Apple Bar, please send in the following items on Monday, November 25. Apples, caramel, chocolate, plates, mini M & M's, butterscotch, Oreos, nuts, sprinkles, mini marshmallows and water.

We would like students to help us design our Summersill Holiday Card. Please turn in your artwork to Mrs. Millice by December 2 to be entered into the contest. All designs must be student-created.

PTO is collecting items for the Christmas Store. Please drop off any donations to the front office. They are also looking for volunteers to assist with managing the store, while students are shopping. Please call our PTO president, Mrs. Verhoff at 910-546-5569.

Wednesday, November 27 is a Teacher Workday. There will be no school for students.

Thanksgiving break is Thursday and Friday, November 27 & 28. We hope our Eagles enjoy spending time with their family and friends. We are so grateful for our staff, students and families.

Are you a parent looking for ways to contribute to Summersill Elementary? There are several opportunities for parents to get involved and support our Eagle family. Please review each opportunity below.

* Parent Teacher Organization: This group meets in person and sends in special treats for staff throughout the year

* Parent Volunteer: Parents have to be volunteered trained each year and fingerprinted at the district office every five years

* Room Parent: Assists the teacher with various things for the classroom

* Strategic Planning Team: School stakeholders (parents, teachers, administration) work together to improve the school
