Four finalists from each grade will move on to participate in the schoolwide Spelling Bee on Friday, January 17. Updates From The Principal
Hello NRMS Families,
Happy New Year. It is great to have everyone back at school, as we kick off 2025 at NRMS. We encouraged students to set goals for themselves this week as they look ahead to completing the first semester with quarter two ending at the end of January. There is plenty of time for students to do what is needed to pass all of their courses by completing any missing work and putting forth their best effort throughout the month.
On Thursday morning, we briefly held students and staff in classrooms while a student needed to go by ambulance to the hospital due to a medical issue. Whenever we have an ambulance at the school, we hold everyone in classrooms to protect privacy and avoid spectators watching anyone be wheeled out of the school by the responding paramedics. While not a great way to kick off the new year, it was another opportunity to practice our stay in place protocol.
There are signs of flu, covid, and norovirus circulating around the country including here on the Cape. Let's continue to practice the proactive health protocols we all know so well such as washing hands frequently. With the arrival of cold weather, please encourage students to dress for the season.
We have some fun events coming up this month. On January 8 at 7pm we have our 6th grade winter concert. On Friday January 17, we will hold our local Scripps National Spelling Bee finals with the winner advancing to the regional Bee on the way to the National Bee, if they qualify. The Drama Club's production of Alice in Wonderland takes place on January 24, 25, and 26. We also encourage students and families to cheer on the basketball teams at any of the many upcoming home games.
Welcome back and let's make 2025 the best year yet.
