LNPD Weekly Newsletter
AISD Learn 'N Playday Preschool Updates for the Week of 4/29
LNPD Weekly Updates
It's hard to believe we are already in the month of May.
As you have seen from the lavender May calendar and newsletter, we have a lot coming up this month.
Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. Your teacher's favorites lists are located on the LNPD website under each of their classes. I gave suggestions on the monthly calendar for each day your child is here, however, they do not need to be followed. Please recognize your teachers the way you would like to. https://www.allenisd.org/page/learn-n-playday
Our Family Picnics are also next week from 11-12pm on 5/8 and 5/9. Please make sure you RSVP to your child's teachers, so we know who will be coming. Siblings and grandparents are welcome to join too. All adult family members will need to show ID at the gate to Mrs. Denise in order to come onto school grounds, so please have a drivers license with you. Please either send you child with lunch that morning, or bring a lunch for them when you come to join us.
End of the year parties are scheduled for 5/22 and 5/23. Dominos cheese pizza and a juice pouch will be provided for lunch that day from LNPD. If your child will not want pizza, please send them with their regular lunch. Families are welcome to join us for our Ice Cream Sundae party in the afternoon. Each class begins at a different time so be on the look out for an email with more details and a Sign Up Genius to help us with the ice cream and toppings.
An email of our LNPD Parent Surveys went out on Monday. If you have not had a chance to fill one out, please take a moment to give us your feedback. We use this information to continue to improve our program from not only things in the classroom, but to communication and advertising of our preschool. Thank you in advance for all your help and support to make us a better place to educate our "littles" in AISD!
I hope you all were able to get into the AISD Summer Camps! If you did not, there are still openings in some of the camps for our age group listed below, so make sure you sign up soon.
*A friendly reminder to please try to be on time to LNPD....we leave carpool promptly at 9am.
*Please refrain from making a second row at carpool. Only pull forward if there is spot in front of your child's teachers.
Classroom Themes
The 3's classes focused on Jungle Animals this week. There were lots of Lions, Tigers, Elephants, Toucans, and so much more. The kids loved playing and learning about all the animals that are in the Jungle. Letter Jj was their letter of the week and May became the color purple for the color bucket. (my favorite color) The kids are doing great tracing their names now too!
Our 4's classes had Sticky week. There was lots of sticky things in the classroom to do activities with, like counting candy, fake gumballs, Velcro and hair curlers. Gg for gumball was their letter. The kids got to make slime in art class and add fun sprinkles to the mix too. They are doing great writing sentences and remembering to put two fingers between words to help separate each one.
Our 4's M-F focused on Under the Sea this week. There was counting of shells and outlining letters with sea creatures too. They had mermaid sets to play with and whales, sharks and other sea creatures in their water table. At the science center, they had real sand dollars and shells to look at with a magnifying glass. They could also put conch shells up to their ears to hear the sounds of the ocean.
May Calendar or Events
Our LAVENDER newsletter and calendar went home with your child this week. Please make sure you are making note of important dates and activities each month. We don't want any of our families missing out on all the stuff going on at Learn 'N Playday!!! If you ever lose yours, I post our monthly newsletter and calendar on our LNPD website.

LNPD Registration Ongoing for August of 2024
Our waiting list for 2024-2025 began on 10/1 and registration from that list begins the last week in January and will be ongoing until the start of the school year.
If you know of any Allen friends looking for a preschool for the 2024-2025 school year, please direct them to our website: www.allenisd.org/learnnplayday , and have them fill out a waiting list form and/or direct them to our Eleyo page to enter their information too. https://allenisd.ce.eleyo.com/ (2024-2025)
My email is : and.learnNplay.generalmailbox@allenisd.org
They must be either 3 by 9/1 for our 3's class or 4 by 9/1 for our 4's classes. ALL students must be fully potty trained, which means fully independent to use the bathroom on their own.
We would love to have them in our program for next school year if they are ready for school! π

Illness Reminders:
If sick, your child must be:
1. fever free 24 hours
2. vomit free 24 hours
3. diarrhea free for 24 hours, all before sending them back to school
They also need to be medicine free at school. Giving Tylenol or other fever reducing medicines in the morning can upset their stomachs and also lead to fevers and vomiting later in the day or children falling asleep.
We have had a lot of runny noses and coughing at LNPD and a few kids have had the tummy bug. Please be on the lookout for any of these things and keep your children home if they are within that 24 hours of being contagious.
Recess Information
If it is 90-99 actual temperature or heat index, we have a shortened recess time of 10 minutes
It is 100 or above actual temperature or heat index it is INDOOR recess only
35 or below actual or wind child, INDOOR recess only
36-40 degrees its shortened recess and all students must have appropriate jacket and clothing
Air Quality alerts are also shortened recess 10-15 minutesPotty Reminders
Please make sure you have your child use the restroom before leaving your houses in the mornings. Also, please remind your children to tell the teachers when they need to go potty. Some of the accidents we are experiencing is because our students either wait too long to tell someone or they do not inform the teachers that they need to go. (Every LNPD class goes as a class at least 3-4 times per day)
Please have a full change of clothes in your child's backpack. Socks and shoes included and more than one pair of underwear and pants or shorts are always helpful too. Please also make sure your children's clothing items are labeled.
Other Important Information
- Field trips and LNPD activities have begun. All parents must complete a background check prior to participating in any of these activities. This process may take up to two weeks to complete. I have included the link for easy access if you are interested in volunteering. https://www.allenisd.org/page/register-volunteer
- We are not using water fountains this year, so a water bottle is definitely needed. We have a touch free, filtered water bottle station in the LNPD hallway, so we can refill their bottles too.
Make sure to visit our LNPD website to view our monthly calendar and newsletter, find your weekly classroom news and pictures, music songs, links to Eleyo. www.allenisd.org/learnnplayday
- Visit our Allen ISD home page to find the latest information on the district. https://www.allenisd.org
- If you think your child needs to be assessed for any special services, such as speech, autism, hearing or vision impaired, cognitive, social or emotional development, etc..., please reach out to our Allen ISD Special Services department and then go to Child Find. Here is their direct link to get you started: https://www.allenisd.org/o/aisd/page/child-find
