Message from Mr. Kingery
Dear Art Rutkin Elementary Families,
We are all ready for a new school year starting on Tuesday for 1st-5th graders and on Monday, September 9th for kindergarteners. Please read the important information in this newsletter for student arrival and dismissal times at school. We ask that everyone follow our procedures carefully to keep everyone safe around our parking lots and school entry. We will have signs and safety cones out to help everyone get used to how arrival and dismissal will work. We ask that everyone be patient, and take extra care when looking out for students and adults in the parking lots. Help us keep everyone safe and follow these arrival - dismissal directions. See the map in this newsletter for a visual of our parking lots.
Drive slowly on campus at all times
Stay in your vehicle or use designated parking spots
Student drop-off and pick up is in the lower parking lot only
Buses only in the upper parking lot during arrival and dismissal
Stay by the curb while dropping off and picking up students
Use visor signs to show who you are picking up at the end of the day
Please drop students off on the curb side from your vehicles only
UPDATE: we will have students only on sidewalks from the bus, bike racks and to the parking lot stop sign during dismissal. Parents will be redirected to use another sidewalk to go to the Art Rutkin Oak Tree for in person pick starting Tuesday. We will have signs to help.
Please do not bring dogs, or other pets to pick up students during dismissal
Parents and guardians may walk their child to class on the first day of school
1st - 5th grade on Sept. 3rd
Kindergarten on Sept. 9th
8:00 AM school starts and parents may go start their day
8:00 AM - Sept. 3rd and Sept. 9th enjoy coffee with the principal in the library
We will start regular routines on the 2nd day of school
Sept. 4th - 1st - 5th grade parents say good-byes to students outside
Sept. 10th - Kindergarten parents say good-byes to students outside
Back-To-School-Night was another great success. Families received important grade level information while visiting classrooms. Everyone also enjoyed time to connect during the family time with games on the field. We will hope for cooler temperatures next year. We can all share a great big thank you to our PSO members who set up a wonder space to enjoy while families visited school. We are already so excited for this year’s family events.
Important note: Please consider getting signed up as a volunteer by the end of September. Even if you may volunteer later in the year, it is great to have the background check cleared well in advance. We want everyone to be able to participate in school activities. The volunteer sign up is good for 3 years. Thank you in advance!
TTSD Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook (SRRH)
Please remind your child that they will be expected to place any cell phones, smartwatches, communication and other personal devices in backpacks from 8:00 AM - 2:20 PM while at school. Putting these devices away supports their focus on learning during the school day. Please see the TTSD Student Rights and Responsibilities Handbook (SRRH) so you know what guides how our teachers work with students.
With Gratitude,
Mr. Jamie Kingery
Principal

ParentSquare Information
ParentSquare, the new communication platform, allows parents and guardians in the Tigard-Tualatin School District to receive all communications from the district, schools, classrooms, and activity groups in one unified app and service.
Tigard-Tualatin School District is launching ParentSquare—a simple and unified school-to-home communication platform—to reach and engage every parent, helping ensure all parents can participate in their student's education.
By unifying multiple tools into one communications app and service, ParentSquare provides a seamless experience for parents and staff. Parents can keep track of news, activities, and events from all their children’s schools in one place.
ParentSquare does not replace ParentVue and StudentVue. Hopefully you have received the information from the district and have had time to play around with the app and were successful setting up an account. If you need assistance please visit the ParentSquare webpage or contact the school office.
Volunteer Information
Would you like to be a volunteer or be a field trip chaperone? Have you gone through TTSD's volunteer process? If not, please make sure to do so. Once cleared you are good for 3 years. If there is even a slight change your answer is yes, then please complete the steps. It's better to have clearance than not! Here is the link!
*For new students this year coming from another TTSD school and have gone through this process, please email artrutkinoffice@ttsd.k12.or.us and we'll get you added to our volunteer computer.
