A Moment With Ms O'Donnnell
Dear Attea Families,
Our 8th-grade students did a great job engaging in the Illinois Science Assessment. On Wednesday, our students performed a preview for all students at Attea of SpongeBob, The Musical. Our students are creating an excellent production and have been working so hard! Tickets are still available for all of this weekends performances and can be purchased at the door.
We also want to acknowledge Roman, an 8th grade Attean, who placed 6th in the weight class at the state wrestling tournament this past weekend!
We will continue with the next celebration of all students with our Spring Break Spirit Week and with our Spirit Assembly on Friday.
The fun continues when school resumes after Spring Break on April 1st with SELebration Day.
This soft start back to school will allow all students and staff to connect while experiencing a learning activity of their choice to start the day.
Go Flyers!
Mrs. O’Donnell
Another Moment...With Ms. Thorne
As you learned in this recent message from Dr. Matt Silverman, District 34 will administer the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) in April. The specific dates that Attea’s students will take IAR assessments are:
Wednesday, April 3rd - Math 1
Thursday, April 4th - Math 2
Friday, April 5th - Math 3
Tuesday, April 9th - ELA 1

If your child must miss a scheduled day of testing, they will have the opportunity to take the tests beginning on Thursday, April 11, 2024. The testing window, mandated by the Illinois State Board of Education, closes Friday, April 19, 2024.
Please email me by March 22, 2024 (before Spring Break), if you know in advance that your child will miss any of the test dates. This notice will help our planning (though the alternate dates will also be available for students who miss due to illness, conflicts, or cultural support.
Sincerely,
Allyson Thorne
Assistant Principal for Teaching and Learning

Your Input on Your Child’s School: 5Essentials Survey
January 30 - March 29, 2024
You can take the 2023-2024 5Essentials Parent Survey NOW!
You don't need your child's ID to take the parent survey. If the link is redirecting you to the student survey, click here for the English parent survey, and click here for the survey in Spanish.
(If you have children in more than one school, please take the survey for each school.)
The District plans to use the results of this year's survey to give us a clear picture of our schools' climate and culture. If at least 20% of parents participate in the survey, a parent supplement report will be generated and the District will share these results with the community.
Please do your services to Attea and complete the 5Essentials Survey. We are at 19% completion and we need to get 20% of our parents completing the survey to obtain data that we can use for school improvements and growth.
PLEASE take the survey TODAY!

Pi Thons Math Club
Last month, students in accelerated math classes took a statewide contest through Math League. Scores were submitted, and later this school year, we will find out how we did against other schools in Illinois.
Students who scored in the top 5 for each grade level at Attea will receive certificates from their math teachers. The problems were challenging and students only had 30 minutes to complete 35 problems. All the students who competed gave their best effort!
If your child is interested in more opportunities to enter math competitions, please encourage them to join the PiThons, our competitive math team. They can sign up by reaching out to Mrs. Ciske in person in room A217 or by emailing her at dciske@glenview34.org.
