Message from Principal Webb
We had over 80 people at our ELL Pizza Night at LakeRidge on Wednesday! It's so fun to see current and former Longhorns at this event!
The weather is changing and we want to remind everyone to send jackets/sweatshirts, hats, and gloves when the weather is chilly. Please remind your student to check the lost and found and if possible LABEL your child's outerwear in case they end up in the Lost and Found so we can get them back to the owner :)
If you need assistance getting any winter gear, please contact our SFA Hailee Tyynismaa.
Remember to take time for yourself as this can be a stressful time of the year for many of us. If ever you have a concern or something great to celebrate I encourage you to reach out!
No School today- Friday, October 11th , or the following Monday, October 14th and Tuesday, October, 15th.
Have an amazing weekend,
Parent-Teacher conference sign up information will be coming soon. It is linked in the Infinite Campus called PTZ wizard. More information coming soon. Many families also signed up at back to school night.
Have a wonderful weekend,
Principal Webb
Fall Picture Day- October 18th
Longfellow Longhorns will be having pictures taken on Friday, October 18. Retakes are scheduled for Monday, November 18. We do understand that 5th graders will be heading to School of the Wild that same day. We encourage you to have your 5th grader just wear a nice shirt that can easily be changed before getting on the bus or plan to have pictures on re-take day if you would prefer.
You may place an order using the form sent home with your student or by going to this link https://vando.imagequix.com/g1001134951. Or this qr code. (This link and QR code will only be active through October 19th.)
Rent the Celebration Rock
The purpose of the Celebration Rock is to promote school spirit at Longfellow Elementary School. Parents, caregivers, students & staff have the opportunity to “Rent the Rock” to recognize a student’s birthday, show school spirit, thank or recognize a teacher or staff member, mark congratulatory events, etc. It is a great way to spread positive messages and increase excitement in our community! 100% of the funds raised through the Celebration Rock will be used by the school or PTA for events and for school improvement for our amazing students!
Call the office if you are interested in renting the rock! 3196881135
Follow this Payment link https://givebutter.com/4GsRpD to complete the process by paying $10 or writing a check to Longfellow PTA and dropping off at the office
Get ready to celebrate! What you need to paint a spirit rock: - 1 can of spray paint for each side - acrylic paint for the colors you need for your design - paint brushes and stencil brushes worked well - chalk to plan out the design before painting - other helpful supplies: paint stirrer, paint can opener, scissors, baby wipes for drips, paper towels-- if you want to donate extra supplies after you are done, you can leave them at the office for others.

News from the Longfellow Library
The Longfellow Library has a new gift book program! If you would like to purchase a book for our school library head to our Amazon wishlist. We will insert a bookplate with your or your child's name and your little Longhorn can be the first one to check the book out! This can be a fun way to honor a favorite teacher or staff member, to celebrate a birthday, or for any other reason! Thanks for considering.
This month we have an October Reading Challenge for 4th and 5th graders. Student who want to participate can keep track of their reading time on special bookmarks and turn these in at the end of the month to receive a homemade cookie at lunchtime (alternate rewards will be be given to anyone who cannot have a cookie or does not want one).
We have noticed an increase in damaged books this fall. Please help your child to keep library books clean, dry, and away from pets and younger children. Thank you!
