High School Seniors visit GLOBE
Yesterday, students at both campuses lined the hallways to welcome back former GLOBE students and celebrate their graduation from high school!
End-of-Year Survey
As part of GLOBE's charter, we are required to report parents' overall satisfaction with their children's education each year. An email was sent to GLOBE families on Friday, May 10. If you did not receive the email, please click here. The survey takes approximately five minutes to complete.
Cultural Counselor of France in the US visits GLOBE
On Friday, May 10, The GLOBE Academy received a visit from Mr Mohamed Bouabdallah, the new Cultural Counselor of France in the US and Director of Villa Albertine (the Cultural Institution of the French Embassy in the US). Our school has received the Label FrancÉducation, a recognition by the French Ministry of Education for excellence in French DLI instruction and programming, a prestigious recognition we have held since 2019.
Mr. Bouabdallah spent time at Upper Campus finding out about our language program and to check out the wonderful work our students are doing in their classrooms. Mr Bouabdallah has held significant roles advocating for French culture on the global stage. Prior to his appointment as Cultural Counselor of France in the United States, he served as Cultural Counselor of France in Cairo and Director of the French Institute in Egypt (2016-2019), and Head of the Political Affairs Department at the United Nations Directorate of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, in charge of the Security Council (2019-2023).
Summer Camp spaces still available
There is still some availability for this year's Summer Language Camp which takes place from June 10 to June 28, 2024. This year we are also offering classes for our newest GLOBE students. We will have incoming kindergarten classes in each of the three languages. Click here to register. If you have any questions, please send the summer camp team an email.
PTCC celebrates Staff Appreciation Week
Last week was Staff Appreciation Week. The PTCC planned five days of treats for GLOBE's incredible staff, who also received expressions of thanks from students. To any staff reading this, thank you so much for all you do for our students and our community. We are so lucky!
Campus notes
Lower Campus
Lost and Found
Please check for lost items as we get closer to the end of the school year. All items left at lost and found will be donated a week after the end of the school year.
Upper Campus
Field Days
4th and 5th grade students had fun participating in the UC Field Day on Monday. Unfortunately Tuesday’s field day had to be canceled due to the poor weather. Thank you to the volunteers, staff, and PTCC for your support. Look out for some photos from the event in next week's newsletter.
Lost and Found
Please remind your students to check for lost items as we get closer to the end of the school year.
UC Clinic Medication collection deadline
All medications (prescription or as needed) must be collected by May 21.
Middle School Art
Students should bring a large bag (like a reusable cloth grocery bag) to collect their sketchbooks, personal art supplies, and art work. Thank you.
Music
Chorus
The GLOBE Academy Chorus attended the 2024 Music in the Parks Competition. They brought home two wins. 1st place in Division A Middle School, and Overall Middle School Choir!
Orchestra Spring Concert
The Orchestra Spring Concert takes place tomorrow, Thursday, May 16 at 6:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to the UC Auditorium to watch the performance.
Yearbook
Yearbooks will be distributed to homerooms on Monday
The pickup protocol for these books is as follows:
All Upper Campus orders received by May 16 will be distributed to homerooms on May 20.
Upper Campus orders received after May 16 will be available for pickup at the front office at UC beginning on May 20.
All Lower Campus orders received after May 8 will be available for pickup at the front office at UC beginning on May 20. They will not be available at Lower Campus.
If you did not pre-order and would still like to purchase a yearbook, you can still purchase one online via Jostens. Unfortunately, yearbooks cannot be purchased at the front desk (with cash or card), they must be purchased online via Jostens, and then collected at the UC front desk.
Do you have old yearbooks you are willing to donate?
We would like to maintain a collection of past yearbooks in the LC and future UC libraries, but we are missing quite a few. If you are willing to part with your old GLOBE yearbook, we will gladly add it to our collection AND label it with your name.
Admissions
Annual Verification
GLOBE's annual verification is separate from DeKalb County School District. Notifications regarding GLOBE's Annual Verification process will be communicated in July.
Please let us know if your plans to attend GLOBE have changed
GLOBE is excited to welcome our new and returning students to our community next year, however, we do understand that plans can change. Having an accurate count for the school year allows us to plan and budget appropriately and allows a student from our waiting list to fill the open spot.
If your plans to return to GLOBE have changed from “yes” to “no” between now and the start of the 2024/25 school year, please let us know by completing this form: Student Withdrawal Notification*.
*The Student Withdrawal Form requires a Google account sign-in to upload the necessary ID documents. If you do not have a Google account, please contact the Registrar to notify us.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Tamiko Jones, Admissions Coordinator, via email at Admissions@theglobeacademy.net or call 404-464-7040, ext. 225.
To request student records, send an email to: Registrar@theglobeacademy.net.

Volunteer hours can help GLOBE receive grants
Did you know that when you volunteer, it can help GLOBE receive grants? Some donors want to know how involved the community is. We can show them that parents are invested in the school by sharing the volunteer hours we have tracked. So please remember to log your hours here. When you log your time, you'll also be entered in our drawing for a volunteer-of-the-month carpool flag. As a reminder, each family is requested to volunteer ten hours each year. To see current volunteer opportunities, click here. Thank you for volunteering at GLOBE.
Shopping can help GLOBE!
Did you know when you shop at places like Publix, Kroger, and OfficeMax/Office Depot, they will donate to GLOBE PTCC? To find out how to easily set this up, click here. Every penny counts!
