Adjusting to a new schedule
The adjustments to our new 7 period schedule are being made as we experience different aspects of what it means to be on a 52 minute period. We have heard and continue to get feedback from teachers, students, and parents about the effects the new schedule and pacing have had on them. While it will never feel like it did before and there will continue to be pinch points of a different kind, we do want to address areas that will make it a little better.
Rigor will always be a part of what we expect in our classrooms but we know we need to ensure that it is manageable as well as challenging. The hot topics right now are homework and tests and we are already working on a systematic approach to these. The target date for new practices that are unified throughout the HS is the start of the 2nd nine weeks grading period. We appreciate your understanding and support!
AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS
After school clubs are a great way for WAIS students to get involved and make connections across grade levels. Clubs are formed either through student or teacher interest. We have several clubs that carry over year to year and new ones are being formed all the time.
For a quick view of the clubs we currently offer, click the link below. Each square is linked to the club information about when and where the club meets.
