In this 2-hour workshop, participants will learn the effects of trauma on the brain, recognize these effects in their classroom, and learn strategies for addressing student needs in the classroom. This is an introductory overview of trauma and its effects.

The teen years bring up a whole different set of struggles for teachers and the students that they care about. This workshop delves into the teenage brain, remodeling, and techniques to ensure open and respectful communication.
Strategies for Building Resilience in the Classroom

Target Audience: K-12 Teachers and Staff
(Ideal for teachers who previously took "Trauma in the Classroom" or "Trauma, the Brain & its Impact on Learning", but those who have a basic understanding of Trauma and ACEs are welcome!)
In this 2-hour workshop, participants should come with a base level understanding of ACEs and the effects of Trauma and we will discuss classroom strategies to help promote resiliency in the classroom. Topics to be addressed include relationship-building activities, NYS social-emotional learning benchmarks, and review practices that teach the whole child. Time will also allow for reflection of particular students in their own classrooms and action planning on how to implement action plans to support students in need.

How knowledge of Adverse Childhood Experiences and an understanding of how student’s brains work can help classroom management and concerns with student behavior. Hands-on techniques taught to help teachers intervene when elementary students are showing BIG FEELINGS in the classroom.
