It’s hard to believe we’re already in the final stretch of the school year! With just a few short weeks left, our campus is buzzing with activity—field trips, performances, projects, and celebrations that make this time of year so special.
Thank you for your continued support, flexibility, and partnership. We know how full family calendars get in May, and we’re grateful to walk through this exciting season with such a dedicated and engaged parent community. Let’s finish strong—together!

Brand new"ish" news...
•Harlem Wizards Assembly~ We had an absolute blast at today’s Harlem Wizards assembly! Our students cheered, laughed, and joined in the fun with the Wizard's (we had just one member) amazing tricks and high-energy show. It was a great reminder of the joy and connection that come from shared experiences—and we’re so glad our Surfers got to be part of it! Hope to see you all at the game on May 1st.
•Science Odyssey~ I'm happy to announce that ...
Neev Misra, one of our 3rd graders, won 2nd prize on determining the best material to build runways and prevent runway overruns.
Mahi Misra won 1st place in the “Around the World” category for the most creative costume—dressing up as a Pokémon from Japan, crafted entirely from grocery bags and a mask made out of gift bags.
Tanay Rane and Rishon Menon were awarded 1st place under Behavioral Science for their work - AI vs Reality.
Congrats to all of our Science Odyssey participants!
•Electronic Communication Devices~We understand that many of our students wear smartwatches to school, and we recognize they can be useful tools for staying connected. However, we’ve seen an increase in classroom distractions tied to students using their watches to send messages, check notifications, or play games during instructional time.
While we absolutely want to support our students and respect parent preferences, we kindly ask that smartwatches are not used during class. Just like with cell phones, we ask that they remain off during learning time, unless a teacher has given permission for academic use.
This expectation aligns with LVJUSD Board Policy 5131, which outlines appropriate use of electronic devices to ensure a focused and respectful learning environment for all students.
Thank you for your support in helping us minimize distractions and maximize learning.
BP 5131.3
Use of communication devices such as cell phones and pagers are permitted on campus and at school sponsored activities under restricted conditions. School administration also has the discretion to impose additional conditions. Standards: (1) Use of cell phones, pagers, and other communication devices on campus is permitted only during the following times: before and after school; during passing periods (grades 9-12 only); and during lunch. (2) At no times are students permitted to use cell phones or pagers during a class or instructional period. All electronic devices (to include, but not limited to cell phones and pagers) must be turned off during class time. (3) The schools will not be responsible for the damage or loss of electronic communications devices brought on campus or to school sponsored activities. Violations of these standards will result in consequences consistent with the District’s discipline policy. BP 5131.3 is available on the District’s website.

Student LVJUSD Gmail Accounts
In accordance with security guidance, IT has updated student passwords to 9-digits. That means students with 8-digit student IDs will need to add a leading zero and students with 7-digit student IDs will need to add two leading zeros to be able to log in. Students with 9-digit student IDs or who had previously changed their password to a personal password were not affected.
If students need help, they can get help from their teachers when school starts.
