Dot Day is September 15th!
The arts are an essential part of a complete education, no matter if it happens in the home, school, or community. Students of all ages—from kindergarten to college to creative aging programs—benefit from artistic learning, innovative thinking, and creativity. Celebrating National Arts in Education Week is a way to recognize this impact and share the message with friends, family, and communities. What will you do this week to recognize and celebrate the importance of the arts in your child’s life?”
Dot Day
On September 15th we will celebrate International Dot Day inspired by the book “The Dot” by Peter Reynolds. Dot Day is a global celebration of creativity, courage and collaboration. In art students will discuss their different strengths and how they will
leave their “Dot” or their positive mark on the world. Dot Day will be celebrated all week
throughout the school but especially on September 15th so make sure you have your students wear polka dots to show some Dot Day pride.

Meet the Kindergarten Team
We are delighted to introduce our Kindergarten team for this year. They are a dedicated group of educators who work enthusiastically day in and day out with our youngest students. We are excited to have them as a part of our Blanton staff.
Why do they love to teach Kindergarten?
Mrs. Elizalde ~ "... because it's a year of tremendous growth in the students and I love to instill a love of reading in their hearts!"
Mrs. Ellis ~ "... because the students are so many things: enthusiastic, sweet, and much like sponges. I feel honored to teach children to read, and it;s a huge bonus to get to use silly voices while reading to my students in the process!"
Mrs. McDonald ~ "... because I love to teach them how to read and write and set them up with a strong foundation for lifelong learning."Mrs. Woodfin ~ "... because everything is new and exciting to my students. I love the oohs, ahhs, and joyful giggles I get to hear each day!"

Veteran's Day Plans
Veteran’s Day is observed on Friday, November 10th this year.
We, at Blanton, would like to honor the veterans in our community/family with a Veteran’s Wall of Honor in our hallway, extend an invitation to speak in a related student’s classroom, as well as provide a lunch on November 10th.
Some information that would be appropriate for classroom presentation might include:
- who the veteran is,
- how they are related to the student in the class,
- rank and branch of the military,
- reason for serving,
- responsibilities during service,
- places traveled,
- age-appropriate experiences,
- how service in the military changed the veteran in a positive way.
Please contact Stacey Gow by September 29th, if you or someone you know would like to participate in one or more of these Veteran’s Day activities.
If you would like to pay tribute to someone on the Wall of Honor, you will be asked to please provide a picture no larger than 8x10 with current contact information on the back, a notecard with information including name, rank, branch of the military and time of service no later than October 10th.
Thank you so much,
Stacey Gow, M.Ed
