The Weekly Update #9
October 6th, 2024
From the Principal
Cougar Families,
We have made it to the end of the first 9 weeks. The 9 week grading period will end on Wednesday, October 9. The following week, on October 16, 2024, report cards will go home. Next week, we will send out communication regarding our Honor Roll program to celebrate those students who make A and A/B Honor Roll.
This week, we are winding down our celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, which ends on October 15. We will have a PBIS activity on Wednesday, October 9. In order to attend, students have to have no referrals or suspensions for the 1st 9 weeks. We will continue to reward positive behaviors throughout the school year with activities that the students will be able to participate in.
Next week, we will celebrate Homecoming week at Southeast Middle. Students will have the opportunity to dress up throughout the week, attend the Spirit Pep Rally, and participate in the Homecoming dance (behavior dictated). Again, we want ALL of our students to be able to participate in activities. Therefore, we ask all parents to continue to support the school with ensuring that your scholar makes good decisions on a daily basis.
Fall break is also upon us. On Thursday, October 10, 2024, students will attend school virtually (unless otherwise noted by the district). Teachers will have a Professional Development Day on that day. On Friday, October 11 and Monday, October 14, 2024, schools and district office will be closed for Fall Break. School will resume on Tuesday, October 15.
Please note that Southeast Middle is also celebrating 50 years of serving the educational needs of students in East Baton Rouge Parish. We are looking to celebrate this occasion with an activity. Please be on the lookout for more information in the coming weeks.
Lastly, please note that students are considered tardy after 7:10 AM. If students are on a late bus, it will be documented in JCAMPUS by the front office. After 7:30 AM, students being dropped off by a parent MUST BE SIGNED IN BY AN ADULT! If the adult does not come in and sign the student in, the student will be placed in TOR until a parent/guardian can do so. This is for the safety and security of not just your child, but for the school.
As always, if you need to contact us, please do so during our normal business hours of 6:45 AM-3:00 PM.
Sincerely,
Regina M. Bennett, Esq.
Principal, Southeast Middle School
